It's cool to see that old Kenner footage. I seem to remember somebody here say that they are very strict about not permitting people to video Kenner, but you would think eventually that online streaming would make sense. I don't think the audience for it would be huge, but as time goes on, the cost of streaming the Kenner games online will decrease. I am guessing it could be done cheaply already, especially if it was just video and no commentary.

Has Melo Trimble, from Maryland, played in any of the Kenner League games yet? No, Melo Trimble hasn't played in any Kenner League games. He probably agreed to play in the Kenner League too, but just hasn't shown up. It would've been interesting to see him matched up with Tre Campbell again. I don't think he's going to come in and dominate as a freshman like many believe he will. Maryland brought in a grad transfer from an HBCU, who has played in the Kenner League and I think he'll be better than Romelo Trimble next year. No chance. Turgeon has one last life preserver on his sinking ship, and he's giving it to Trimble to save him. He will start at PG for Maryland this year. Tre Campbell is not in the same league as Trimble. Melo dropped 30 on Campbell in the WCAC championship two years ago. He is the best player to ever play at O'Connell. Better than Jason Clark, Kendall Marshall, Marcus Ginyard, or Dave Neal. He will be a great college player.

The crossover hop at 2:00 is pure Iverson. The fact he pulled up to drain the baseline jumper afterward instead of taking it to the hole was the best part, though -- he just had to score. Maybe that's the purest Iverson quality. He just HAD to score.

Another cool piece of footage would be the pre-season game in 1995 with AI and Page just crushing Ft. Hood with dunks from the rafters. Spike Lee was in the joint that night.

My recollection is that Pops didn't even start AI in that first exhibition in November '94. Scored 17 in the first half in like 10 minutes. * facts based on fading memory only

He will be a great college player. Yeah, and Melo Trimble had about 35 at St.John's earlier that year, but St.John's went 3-0 or 2-1 vs O'Connell this past season, I know SJC beat O'Connell both times during the regular season. I don't think the gap between Tre Campbell and Melo Trimble is as wide as you and others may think, after seeing T.Campbell in the Kenner League. The last time I saw Melo Trimble play in person, O'Connell got embarrassed by Bishop Ireton in the 1st round of the WCAC playoffs and Melo had a bad game, that has probably clouded by judgement of him a bit. I still believe that the 5th year transfer will be better than Melo this year. Also, Turgeon got another life preserver when he got the outstanding forward from Georgia Tech to transfer to Maryland. Turgeon will have at least 2 more years no matter how much the Maryland folks want him gone or how low they finish in the Big 10. I think there is some debate as to whether Melo Trimble was better than Jason Clark, maybe they are tied. I'll give you the other guys. Neal and Ginyard cancelled each other out as seniors, Kendall Marshall and his O'Connell teams were too inconsistent during his JR and SR years. Although, people may be revisionist and claim K.Marshall is the best since he could be the only one who made it to the NBA.

There is a verbal warning at the start of a game that pictures are strictly prohibited. I tweeted without incident.

I suppose I can understand that to some degree, but these kids get constant attention on the recruiting circuit, so it's nothing they have not dealt with before.

I believe the culture of zero tolerance started with Cold War/Iron Wall Big John who was apparently afraid opponents would stop by and secretly tape his players to get a leg up on what they could do. Years ago I was attending the KL and had forgotten my glasses. But I had this single lens binocular that I picked up from some fair. It was about half the size of a normal cigar. I took out those binoculars and got a better look at the court because I was way in the back. Big John apparently sees me from the opposite side of the court and instructs a security personnel to address me. The security guy told me to put the “camera” away. He didn’t believe me when I said it wasn’t a camera; I had to put it away.

The prohibition is per NCAA rules, or so says the Kenner announcer guy.

Thanks for the link. That guy needs to revisit some English classes that he clearly slept through the first time around.

Came across this old article earlier this week but forgot to post. It is a cool read regarding DC hoops in general but there is a reason why I thought it was relevant to this thread and KL talk overall. espn.go.com/page2/wash/s/2002/0311/1349476.htmlThe Kenner isn't your typical summer league because defense is as necessary as no-look passes. If you can't strap up, you won't play in the Kenner.
