In case anyone wanted further detail on the 12 DVD set on the auction site, and especially in light of the interest in the 80s retrospective as told by ESPN a few months ago, the DVDs (converted from original VHS tapes) contain eight 1980s Hoya Hoop Club/Big East conference highlight videos (about 20-25 minutes each), including the “Decade of Excellence” video made by the Big East circa 1990 recounting its origins/interviews at the time with the founding principals, and a 45 minute Georgetown-made video recounting our dominance of the ‘80s. It also includes nine ‘80s/’90s full game broadcasts recorded from TV at the time they were played. The games include the ’82 Hoya/UVA Ewing/Sampson game at the Cap Centre, several Hoya-dominating performances in Ewing’s senior year (including his last home game/CRUSHING Syracuse) and two classic Hoya/UConn games in 1996 starring Allen Iverson. Each disc has a custom-made photo label, with Hoya photos inside and out and box scores. Here’s the complete list: Disc 1: The Decade of the 80s (Hoya Hoop Club highlight video/45 mins) A Decade of Excellence: The First Ten Years of the Big East Conference (Official conference video/1 hour/lotsa highlights and interviews with conference founders – without any of this “Requiem” garbage…) Disc 2: 1981-82 Hoya Hoop Club highlight video: The Road to New Orleans 1983-84 Hoya Hoop Club highlight video: A Triumph of Tradition 1984-85 Hoya Hoop Club highlight video: A Class Act Disc 3: 1985-86 Hoya Hoop Club highlight video: A Legacy of Excellence 1986-87 Hoya Hoop Club highlight video: Reggie and the Miracles Disc 4: 1987-88 Hoya Hoop Club highlight video: Charles Smith’s Dash in the Dome (the length of the court/last second finger roll game winner by Charles in the Carrier Dome) Disc 5: Georgetown v. Virginia (Ewing/Sampson): Dec. 1982 (Cap Centre) UVA 68, GU 63. The entire game as broadcast on TBS, including Red Auerbach expert analysis (Quality uneven, these 30 years on since original VHS recording) Disc 6: Georgetown v. UNLV: Dec. 1984 (Cap Centre) GU 82, UNLV 46 (national TV audience/Billy Packer see Hoyas destroy a top 20 UNLV team) Georgetown v. DePaul: Dec. 1984 (Cap Centre) GU 77, DePaul 57 (#1 Hoyas embarrass then-#2 DePaul on national CBS/Packer broadcast) (Both games missing about last 4 minutes, but some vintage Brent Musberger/NFL Today included) Disc 7: Georgetown v. Villanova: Feb. 1985 (Cap Centre) GU 57, Villanova 50 (ESPN broadcast; our second hard-fought win over Wildcats that year, first was by two points, which people tend to forget . . .) Disc 8: Georgetown v. Syracuse: March 1985 (Cap Centre; Ewing's last home game) GU 90, SU 63 (NBC/Al McGuire color) Disc 9: Georgetown v. St. John’s (March 1985/Big East Tournament Final) GU 92, St. John’s 80 (Hoyas kick Johnnie’s for second of three times in a row that year). Disc 10: Georgetown v. UConn: Feb 1996 (US Air Arena) GU 77, UConn 57 (ESPN Big Monday/Vitale color; Hoyas hand UConn only Big East loss that year, highlighted by Iverson's length-of-the-court drive/dunk through/over entire Huskie team that has Kevin McHale turn to Jerry West, both scouting game, and say "WOW WOW WOW!!!") Disc 11: Georgetown v. Villanova: March 1996 (US Air Arena; Iverson-Williams-Harrington last home game) GU 106, Villanova 68 (CBS/Packer color -- national TV audience sees Iverson drop 37 in 35 mins on the Wildcats). Disc 12: Georgetown v. UConn: March 1996 (Madison Square Garden/Big East Final), UConn 75, GU 74 (ESPN/Vitale color -- the wrong "Allen" scores game winner in a classic).
So endeth this commericial interrurption (but for the good causes of $$$ for athletics and helping preserve our hoops heritage...)

As the extraordinarily proud owner of a set of these DVDs I cannot underestimate just how awesome they are. No Hoya fan with any sense of history should be without this item.

Has anyone ever won anything through the online auction? I've tried on many items over the last few years but always get outbid in the live auction.

Has anyone ever won anything through the online auction? I've tried on many items over the last few years but always get outbid in the live auction. They haven't had a "live" component to the auction for several years, so on-line is the only way to bid and indeed I've won many items that way (way TOO many my wife would be quick to say). And the auction for an item will extend for several minutes if there is any bid in the last three minutes to prevent "sniping", which has lead to some entertaining sextuple overtime bidding wars to watch. I think the "be the ballkid at a game" went about 30 extra minutes a few years ago, as what I bet was a set of grandparents got into a steel cage death match bidding war, ending at like two grand...
