Did we miss the point here? I think we're good on handles we've got; DSR, Tre, Jabril, and L.J. next year and White is not too bad himself. We will need an additional PG in 2015 but the staff has got that covered, at least for now.

Noones a given to commit in 15. If he wants to come bring him. Can't be playing the holding out games we had in the past. Staff doesn't seem to be doing that anymore which is good policy IMO. Wouldn't think the 15's would be scared away being at the level they are even if. We need another ball handler next year. Competition is good for the team. The elite teams are deep. Why can't we be? It is not merely a holding out game. Bringing in five guys in one class is always a bit of a risk. According to this board the Hoyas may be going for six. That is a waste. Not all of those guys are going to play. Those guys will not only be competing with their fellow frsoh for playing time, they will also have to fight for time against the returning vets. If Graham came in and barely played his first season (which is possible) how does that help the team on the court and how much does it hurt it off the court with one less scholarship available for the 2015 class? It ain't about guys in the '15 class being scared off, it is about not having enough room for even four guys in 2015 (with one slot already being occupied by Dickerson). The staff made its bed when it took Campbell first. He's our incoming pg.

Am I missing something? Why do we want to sign a small point guard in 2014 who had mostly mid major offers? We have a point in the 2014 class who is higher rated than this kid. He should probably be in the 50-100 range on all sites. Technically you can’t recruit a player that has signed a LOI thus the reason for all his Mid Major offers. Once he gets released he will have a ton of high majors on him, kid can play.

Since when can't you find room for 2 pgs on our roster? That's absurd.

Nothing wrong with having two point guards. But do we need to bring in both in the same class?

Also would allow us the flexibility to redshirt trey to gain the muscle that he sorely needs

Not all things are equal at different programs. Lousiville also has a coach who has before been known to play with larger rotations than III. Pitino puts out newbies on the floor early and often even if they don't know the system yet.

If there is any flexibility regarding whether to shelve Trey for a year, it is because of the other frontcourt players already on the team or signed to play for the team. It will have nothing to do with what Graham does.

MCI, that's definitely a fair point. And if I felt like we had a pg in 2015 (like Bryant Crawford) coming in, I'd feel less positive about signing 2 in this class. But with a lack of solid ballhandlers on the team next year, I'd prefer to have more than 1 option. Just thinking of MD this year when Seth Allen went down and had to rely on a freshman Roddy Peters who couldn't handle the load. I think having 1 other guy coming into spell Roddy would have helped them immensely even if it were another freshman.

You take talent whenever & wherever you can.. For this program right now, I'd also add as soon as you can.. Tbh, I doubt the staff will recruit him and even if they do there will be other schools with more pt to offer him early on like Providence or Uconn.. Having said that I have no problem with the staff bringing in more players in this class because the 2012 & 2013 classes were very weak as it turns out which means the youngsters have a great shot at overtaking them for PT very early..

If you take Graham you're essentially recruiting over a player in the same class. Georgetown doesnt even recruit over players that have proven substandard by their upperclass years. More specifically, they'd be recruiting over a kid that has been to every single game sitting behind the bench and is from an important local school that we need to maintain good relations with. (St. Johns) I really don't want us ruining that pipeline over the unfounded fear that we'd have a Seth Allen type situation where somebody goes down. And BTW, Roddy Peters was up and down, but was no different than any freshman point guard learning the game aside from say Tyler Ennis or Trey Burke. Roddy will benefit from the experience next year as would Tre from getting some minutes next year. But whether its Tre or Devonte, there are gonna be some learning moments at the PG position next year no matter what. So in my opinion, do the right thing by the player we recruited and let Tre be the backup PG next year. Graham is a nice player but I don't think its a good precedent for the program to set, and I'm not sure how much basketball sense it makes either. I'm all for recruiting Crawford and Mann for '15 though.

Not sure they are the same player. Is Graham a 3-ball shooter? Tre is said to be. What if Tre evolves into a Markel-like player (a combo who can handle, push the ball but also pose a deep threat), and Graham became more of a traditional point who can get in the lane and could also lock down opposing guards? Others more informed than me can speculate whether they could play together, but my first thought is that we wouldn't be recruiting over Tre. Did Ike feel recruited over when we got White? Similar position (3/4) on paper but very different players.

Similar position (3/4) on paper but very different players. They both seem like traditional point guards to me. Devonte might penetrate a little more and Tre might be more pass-first but I think that's more a function of the schools' respective offenses. Either way, they seem pretty similar and when you consider that DSR and L.J Peak will be getting significant minutes next year too I just don't see how the minutes work out. And add to that the fact that we're on 3-4 other guards for '15. White and Copeland will have barely any competition at the 3-4 spots and we're only brining in one more forward in '15. Plus I think White and Copeland have pretty different games. White has a nice mid-range jumper and can facilitate. Copeland is an elite athlete/finisher that can get to the rim off the bounce. The situation at forward seems very different to me.

I believe Tre can handle 8-10 minutes of pt next year but if the staff decided they had to have Graham I'd understand their thinking.. You have to admit the program needs a talent upgrade..

There are only four players combined from the 2012 and 2013 classes on the squad. Two already don't play and may not be around next season at this rate. It isn't as if we have to bring in a large 2014 class simply to make up for a couple of disappointments, specifically when III doesn't typically use a large rotation anyhow.

Eric Miccoud (sp?) or something like that. He went to the French Foreign Legion. Myles had a different first name. But I get your point. Of course Graham ain't Iverson.

Myles first name was ERIC.
Still, the main point is depth at the PG position. Without making any commentary on or evaluation of Graham, the Hoyas need another guard next season for depth reasons.
