Tre sitting behind bench in front of Alonzo tonight. Is Trey Mourning there too? Also is he next to Tre C? Tre Campbell was there ...not tre mourning. Alonzo is a high character kid who would fit in nicely with the team. He was bigger than I expected....and has a DSR/Austin freeman quality to his game...although better handling the ball and better off the dribble then both. He's a major threat on the perimeter and is also considered a slasher. In the staffs mind, he, LJ and tre would form a strong unit in manning our backcourt. I agree....good kid to make a priority. Not sure how last night's game impacted him. I did speak to him and he is well aware of the class we have coming in. He and tre (along with their respective guardians) somberly followed coach broadus in the the locker room after the game.

I really hope last night didn't turn Alonzo Trier off-- feel like we really need him to help Tre in the backcourt. Hope he understands every program has a down year every now and then but that with the players we have coming in he can be a part of something very special.....

I don't see how the game would have been a turn off for him. He was able to see Markel & DSR with the ball in their hands constantly and producing at a high level.. It was a terrible loss but it was a good showcase for any potential guard recruit..

I agree he's gotten to see that Gtown can feature its guards in the offense although I'm not sure we tend to win games when that has been our style. Also, the losses have to make you question the staff's game planning on some level. But I hope he has some foresight to see how good this team can be in a couple years. The big question I have with him, which some people here may have info on, is whether he is considering reclassifying back to his original '14 class? and after the domingo disaster, would we even be in favor of that?

Reclassifying back to his original class (aka 4 years of high school) is a lot different than what Domingo did (only 3 years in HS), which I hope we never do again.

I don’t think kids see it that way Denny. They care about who they will be playing with and style of play. Gtown’s program has been mostly good for 30+years one struggling season does not erase that history Regarding Trier if he wants to reclass and commit you take him. Each kid is different and what happened to Domingo should have no effect on his scenario. He led Nike Eybl in scoring, he’s averaging 20+ for Montrose who plays a national schedule. He can score the ball and his skills look to translate well. If his desire is to eventually become a PG he needs to play with better players so he can learn how to distribute the ball better. Right now he is a shooter first to put it mildly lol.... Most importantly I would be for it because it means he’s in the program. As we know a lot can happen in recruiting and Trier will get a lot of attention from schools moving forward.

As we know a lot can happen in recruiting and Trier will get a lot of attention from schools moving forward. Kids are fickle and they want to play for winners. I do agree with you that one bad season doesnt rule us out by any means and he knows there will be help coming next year. But losing games like last night where recruits are in attendance definitely doesnt help. More than anything I think the losing creates the type of low-attendance/ poor atmosphere games that make recruits unexcited about playing their college ball in a certain place. Then again, UMD somehow keeps brining in highly ranked kids so.... I do hope he's seen some of the footage of what Verizon can look like when we play rivals like Cuse or high profile OOC teams.... Anyway, lets just hope he commits soon because I agree that the longer it plays out the more opportunity there is for other teams to sneak in there. Seems like we're in a good place with him right now, which is why I was wondering if he'd just reclassify and get things going on the hilltop next year....

Where does he rank in priority with Mann and Bacon? I assume we couldn't get all three?

All kids as talented as Trier think they are winners. He probably looks at this team and thinks gosh if they only had me they would be undefeated. I’m joking but there’s always obstacles in recruiting. I’m sure the staff is selling him on the 2014 class changing the culture of the program and him helping with that, or that he will have the ability to play right away, or that we were ranked 2nd in getting guys to the pros, or all of the above plus other things.. He has had the ability to see the offense allows for guards to get off which would be 10x more hurtful to his recruitment if the opposite were true than the concerns listed above. I’m sure the staff is telling him you and Lj Peak at the guard spots Flanked by stud forwards Ike Copeland and Paul White (insert 5) is an explosive team championship caliber team. That IMO has to be more exciting than watching a bunch of kids you may or may not play with struggle. You have to know how to sell your program in good and bad times...

No matter how talented, the '14s and '15s will be led by DSR. No one else. He will be first team All-BE as a junior and senior.

Poor performance rarely seems to eliminate teams, and certainly not like people on here think.
Relationship with coaches. Playing time. Ability to get the player to the L. Location (sometimes).
That's what players decide on.

Right now he is a '15 kid and the possibility of him reclassifying has not been discussed. Of all the recruits in the pipeline (outside of trey mourning), I think he's most likely to come our way.

Interesting....hope you have some good inside info on that! Trier would be a big time pull and go a long way to changing the perception of guards at GU

That's what players decide on. you forgot the existence of handlers/advisors in their ears. many of highly covetted recruits who think they are the best players have someone whispering in their ears to take advantage of them. not saying that's the case with Alonzo, but who knows? XD
