From my count we are at 13 now that bolden has left.that is if Tyler Adams is still on scholarship? We have 11 counting Adams, with josh smith and Reggie Cameron coming next season we will be at 13. I really do not know the Adams status I just assume he is still omn team.
Go hoyas.

Here is a useful tool that has been posted to the recruiting board: hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/17320/recruit-scholarship-tables-16-13Josh Smith should already be on scholarship and since that we before the Bolden transfer, he is taking it from Tyler Adams. Just so we can avoid this for the rest of the season: Tyler Adams is not on scholarship but still hangs out with the team. Tyler Adams is not on scholarship but still hangs out with the team. Tyler Adams is not on scholarship but still hangs out with the team. Tyler Adams is not on scholarship but still hangs out with the team. Tyler Adams is not on scholarship but still hangs out with the team. Tyler Adams is not on scholarship but still hangs out with the team. Hopefully it is more clear now.

Just so that we can be clearer, it is almost certainly true that Tyler Adams remains on scholarship but that the school has received an exemption from the NCAA that his scholarship does not count against Georgetown's scholarship limit.

Very true, I'd assume he is on some sort of academic/need based scholarship now rather then a full athletic scholarship.

I don't think what you were quoting and what you were saying are the same thing, to be clearest . He can still be on an athletic scholarship and not count towards the limit because of an exception. Something that defines his role with the basketball team, but not as a counter. How would you know Tyler qualifies for a need based scholarship?

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that they are the same thing. I am agreeing that he has some sort of exception from the NCAA not to count against our scholarship limit, but I honestly do not think it is an "athletic scholarship". I'd assume that his status would change, for the university, since the basketball team has the money for 13 scholarships already, I doubt the university would change their budget to accommodate one incapacitated player. Thats why I assume he is on some other type of scholarship then athletic.

Thats why I assume he is on some other type of scholarship then athletic. The NCAA allows the awarding of athletic scholarship aid to a player that is no longer medically able to compete--if so, he is not a "counter" against the 13 scholarship limit. 15.5.1.3 Counter Who Becomes Injured or Ill. A counter who becomes injured or ill to the point that he or she apparently never again will be able to participate in intercollegiate athletics shall not be considered a counter beginning with the academic year following the incapacitating injury or illness.
15.5.1.3.1 Incapacitating Injury or Illness. If an incapacitating injury or illness occurs prior to a prospective student-athlete’s or a student-athlete’s participation in athletically related activities and results in the student-athlete’s inability to compete ever again, the student-athlete shall not be counted within the institution’s maximum financial aid award limitations for the current, as well as later, academic years. However, if the incapacitating injury or illness occurs on or after the student-athlete’s participation in countable athletically related activities in the sport, the student-athlete shall be counted in the institution’s maximum financial aid limitations for the current academic year but need not be counted in later academic years. (Adopted: 1/10/91, Revised: 3/26/04, 9/18/07)
15.5.1.3.2 Change in Circumstances. If circumstances change and the student-athlete subsequently practices or competes at the institution at which the incapacitating injury or illness occurred, the student- athlete again shall become a counter, and the institution shall be required to count that financial aid under the limitations of this bylaw in the sport in question during each academic year in which the financial aid was received. (Revised: 4/26/01 effective 8/1/01)

Um, any particular reason why sect. 15.5.1.3.2 was highlighted?

Question
I see on the scholarship tables that next year is Moses' last year. However, since he was injured and didn't play last year, wouldn't he have an extra year of eligibility??

If/when he applies for it. A formality. Does Moses apply for the extra year of eligibility or does the University? He does. The athlete himself takes care his own NCAA paperwork, most of the time.

Will do when we get something official from the University about Bolden. As for Adams, his scholarship status is purely speculative at this point, although the discussion above is probably on target.

Pure speculation about a student-athlete's scholarship status?!?! It's deductive speculation for sure, not to split hairs or anything. The coach has said several times he is not playing, no formal announcement on his status has been made by the school, yet he is clearly a part of the team and on the bench.
