I don't think he would have JT3 come all the way down there to tell him. Thanks but no thanks. I think he wants to commit after this visit. I say it's either us or unc at this point. I don't think the South Carolina visit happens. I think it's an uphill Climb but we have a chance. If it was to tell us we are out that's messed up.

ok now I think we have a chance Dense - could it just be a last-ditch effort based on a belief/concern that he will commit to UNC this weekend? I have no ability to read what something like this means. Seems to me it's just what programs do when recruiting, both UNC & SC visited Woods right before he came to DC.. Who knows whether it will help but it definitely can't hurt.. I agree with B&G who said this recruitment may go for awhile..

I guess I read it as they know there is a legitimate risk he could commit to UNC on the visit and they want to make sure he knows where he stands with us (as the priority). Total guess though.
Also, Roy's MO is to pressure a prospect to commit on the visit. I know everybody does to an extent but Roy pushes it like a used car salesman. The Delvon Roe commitment is a good example of that.

UNC is evidently on the verge of getting a commitment from a 6'5 2GD from Douglasville, Ga...they already have one from the Felton kid (son of former player) for next year, a PG...who else is on the roster/radar at the guard spots...Berry, Britt (PG's)...they may be getting pretty crowded there going forward relative to being "the man" and playing 30+ mns/gm

Robinson may very well verbal UNC soon but they still have room for Woods. I'd say Hoyas are third on his list after UNC and USCe.

IMO, if Woods goes to UNC this weekend for his visit, we are pretty much eliminated from his list. Woods has been to South Carolina and UNC a bunch of times unofficially over the past couple of years. He has met with coaches on each campus and has played pick up ball with players at both schools. He has met with academic advisors and a professor or two at each school. He has seen campus life and the housing situations at both schools. He has eaten the food on campus before. The only school he had not seen until a couple of weeks ago was Georgetown. Now that he has been on the Hoyas campus, he has all the information he really needs to make a decision. Official visits to UNC and S. Carolina are really unnecessary in terms of making a decision that favors Georgetown.
I really believe he is UNC's to loose. Now if UNC blows the visit by slow playing Woods or tells him something to give him pause while on the visit then maybe there is a chance for him to revaluate his options. But with UNC recent recruiting struggles due to possible but unlikely NCAA sanctions hovering over the program, there is no way UNC will slow play a recruit the caliber of Woods. So they are not going to screw his visit up and will say all the right things he wants to here. If he makes it to his South Carolina visit, they will also tell him want he wants to here. Both coaching staffs at UNC and South Carolina will tell him what he wants to here in terms of playing time no matter what their roster make up looks like.

If this other commitment happens and he still goes to UNC man that shows what he thinks of his skills. I mean I know me and another poster were debating Joel berry. But Joel is more accomplished coming into unc than Seventh was. 3 time mr.basketball in florida, a higher ranked recruit. Unless Roy knows he is leaving for sure after this year. I don't see where he plays more the 17-22 mins a game there.

If/when he arrives at UNC, the roster competition is:
Nate Britt Sr. 6'1 PG Joel Berry Jr. 6'0 PG Kenny Williams So.6'3 PG/2GD Theo Pinson Jr. 6'6 2GD/SF Justin Jackson Jr. 6'8 SF/2GD ? Brandon Robinson Fr. 6'5 2GD (#55 Scout/#76 Rivals) Jalek Felton '17 committed 6'3 PG/2GD (#22 Rivals)
That's a bit of a crowd any way you view it...there's only so many minutes available...what about sanctions/probation?...the NCAA just gonna let them off scot free...he says he loved everything about his G'town visit...he starts and plays 30+ mns and has a nice roster around him...hopefully, he's not that smitten with UNC, and he sees all this clearly...

I agree, just too many bodies at UNC. The South Carolina roster doesn't look as imposing but it is his home school so.....

Justin Jackson and Theo Pinson don't count. Jackson will go pro after this season and Pinson can't shoot (he has to play small forward like Tokoto did).
Britt will also finish school by the time Felton gets to campus

And his comments during the recent interview suggest he is just waiting on UNC to say what he wants to hear. Logic dictates we come in third in this race... Then again, logic doesn't always rule in recruiting so we can still hope something "illogical" happens........

I'm not so sure Jackson is going pro after a year...he's rail thin, but maybe...and Pinson better learn to play the 2GD and shoot cause he's not going to play the 3 in the NBA at 6'5...maybe a moot point...we'll see...I'll put it this way, we need Woods a lot more than UNC does, but I also think he'll play a lot more and sooner here.

He may be a heavy UNC lean. I haven't a clue. But, for those that believe that he is, why include Georgetown on his list? He has the offer from UNC. He's visited. He's met the coaches and players on multiple occasions. What could possibly change after another visit? What could he be waiting to hear that he hasn't heard already? I'm just curious as to prevailing opinions. After all, Georgetown is nothing like UNC. When I attempt to be objective about it, unless there's something Seventh finds very attractive about Georgetown, it seems a very odd addition to a list of UNC and USC. I understand the draw to either of those programs for Seventh. What is it about Georgetown that he finds attractive? Maybe I'm just being naively optimistic but one of those three schools on his short list is not at all like the other 2. Which isn't to say that USC and UNC are exceedingly similar. Just that they are much more similar than Georgetown is to either one of them. Many of the guys that become Hoyas, especially the higher rated guys, pick Georgetown because of its uniqueness and not in spite of it. I understand that, in the few cases we've had, the commitment happened quickly. I know jack about jack but, from what I've read and seen about Seventh, he seems like a thoughtful guy that plays it close to the vest and is being careful about his decision. I think that puts us in pretty solid standing in the sense that he hasn't cut us from his list yet. And he's also not accepted an offer from one of the other two schools with which he's had more face-to-face time. Wherever he ends up, I'll reiterate that I have a lot of respect for how he's handled his recruitment and the consideration that he's giving to each of his options. One school will be very happy to have him. I hope we're the one but, if we're not, best of luck to him wherever he goes. He'll certainly be one of the guys whose games I'll be looking to catch even if he's not wearing blue and gray.

Seventh set for UNC Visit
This weekend North Carolina will host a recruit on campus that the Tar Heel staff have been recruiting for what seems like forever. Starting Friday, class of 2016 combo guard Seventh Woods (Columbia, SC/Hammond School) will be at UNC for his official visit.
The South Carolina native is ranked as the No. 6 combo guard in the 2016 class and the No. 41 prospect overall, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
In terms of his recruitment, Woods is down to three schools: the Georgetown Hoyas, the North Carolina Tar Heels and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound guard took an official visit to Georgetown on Sept. 11th and will be at South Carolina for an official on Oct. 9th.
“North Carolina, they’ve been loyal to me since, like, freshman year,” Woods said told Andrew Slater of 247Sports at the Under Armour Elite 24 in Brooklyn. “They’ve been on me hard. I guess, they’re kind of going through that building process too and I’d be able to come in and change the program around as a freshman.“
A decision should be expected following Woods' official to his hometown Gamecocks. “I mean, I don’t really know when I want to decide,” said Woods. “I take my visits at the end of September and the beginning of October. Whenever I’m ready to decide, whenever I feel like the decision is right, I’ll put it out there.”
This is off a UNC site, 54 minutes ago, looks like he's headed to UNC today.

I would be surprised if he does not take all of his visits. The fact that he is still speaking with the Georgetown staff would appear to be a positive sign. I am not going to be holding my breath for any sort of decision in the next few days.

No one should be holding their breath on this one only because Woods doesn't appear to be leaning one way or another. That said, the HOYAS are very much in the mix here....staff loves this kid and is pushing hard. We are right there...

B&G - if he does not appear to be leaning, curious as to why we visited right before his UNC visit - which could certainly overshadow our in-home - rather than waiting until next week, when we could get back into the family's attention. Did the scheduling come from the family, with no choice by the staff?
