With the success that Otto Porter had this year, if Hollis Thompson would have waited 1 more year and left after his senior year (this year); I believe he would have been a lottery pick this year instead of having to go the Free Agent route last year.

Oy. Yeah, I mean he came off the bench in the D-League last year, but I'm sure he was going to climb into the lottery somehow...He wasn't going to be a first rounder. I hope he makes the league at some point - he has some NBA level skills.

If Hollis would have stayed and Greg was eligible, that give us three big time scorers, we would have gone deep into the tourney this year, because we wouldn't be playing 5 on 3. III did the right recruiting of talent, but the league money potential hung over the team.

III did the right recruiting of talent, but the league money potential hung over the team. Considering that Nate was coming off the bench at the end of the 2011/2012 season, the starting lineup after Greg's suspension could have been: Markel Starks PG Jabril Trawick SG Hollis Thompson SF Otto Porter PF Mikael Hopkins C Nate, DSR off the bench or Markel Starks PG Hollis Thomspon SG Otto Porter SF Nate Lubick PF Mikael Hopkins C Trawick, DSR off the bench Either way with Hollis Thompson in the lineup, the team is better offensively. Though offensively could still be 3 on 5 with the latter lineup if Hopper is off his game offensively.

Unfortunately, Nate had impressed III and III thinks Nate adds more value as a passer and rebounder. There was no reason to let Greg get in academic trouble, that's the support staff's issue, which they need to solve.

I'm sorry but how anyone can place the blame on the support staff and not the individual athlete is beyond me. No one let Greg do anything. He got himself in trouble. Yes he's an athlete, and yes he's young, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be held accountable. Hundreds of his peers, including the ones that have the practice obligations but might play a less high profile sport, still manage to do just fine.

talking about Hollis - if he stayed and if kyle anderson came to us and greg did fine at school...
Kyle Anderson PG Hollis Thompson SG (his original position anyway) Greg Otto Hopkins/Moses
That woulda been some intimidating line up.

And if Patrick Ewing had been born about 30 years later, we would have been unstoppable.

If Nerlens hadn't been stolen away at the 11th hour which would also mean he wouldn't have suffered an injury. Kyle Anderson PG Hollis SG Otto SF Nerlens PF Sims C (grad student. and we redshirted Sims one of those years he was useless.) Bench Markel PG Jabril SG Greg SF Moses PF Sim Bhullar C

Not for nothing, but:
Markel Starks >>>> Kyle Anderson.
Perhaps not in pure talent, but at this point in their careers? There is very little question on the matter. (with the exception of rebounding, but Anderson is 6'9", after all)
