He's been playing with some intensity and confidence towards the end of the season...
I think if he can put a whole season together like this, he HAS to come back...
That “J” has been sweet as church music as of late…

He had a few more nice deep j's last night, but toward the end of the first half, Coach seemed to be really Editeded off with some of his decision-making, which IMO was what led to Tyler starting the second half.
In general, I think JT3 will be happy that no players on South Carolina went to Westchester HS, because there was definitely a tone of one-upmanship out on the court last night, and a little bit of playground action among old friends, that seemed to get Coach pretty ticked off, and led to a bunch of the game's substitutions.
I think tomorrow night's game will have the same fired-up attitude, but I have confidence that the Hoyas will play a bit more in-control down in Columbia after what was a really fun, but occasionally sloppy, game last night.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like we've been saying this for a couple of years now. I love Owens as a Hoya, but I wonder if the benefit of him coming back would outweigh the loss of PT for guys farther down the roster who need experience to develop (and will still have time to capitalize on that development).

He might make a great graduate assistant. He could be there for the guys and get them ready to play D1 basketball. However, I doubt he would be interested.

I think you are right Showcase.... the incoming guys need the PT if they are to develop next season and beyond.

They seemed to actually run some plays early to get Owens an open three. The sort of step back/hand off with Jeff will get him a shot from 2 or 3 feet off the line every time. It's always good when DJ gets involved early - it sets the tone for the rest of his game.
There are a lot of factors involved in DJ coming back that no one really has a handle on at this point. He's certainly making the case that he can be a big contributer for the team.

I'd like to see DJ back next year but one of the down sides of that is that, at the end of next year, we would be losing three probable next year's starters in one year. Tough to handle.

I would want DJ back. The guys coming in may be good, but experience is something that is valuable and needed if we plan to do some damage in the Big East and NCAA tournament next year. DJ's success of late is kind of bittersweet. Its like we all knew he was capable of playing like this, but we wish it had happened earlier in his career. The way he is playing now, I would want him back in a heartbeat next year. That way, we can bring guys slowly along. You don't know how freshman turn out, especially if they are asked to contribute significantly. Look how long it took for Villanova's great freshman class to finally play up to expectations. Look at Syracuse's sophomore class that was supposedly so great. Even with our class this year, we thought Cornelio would be more of a factor than Roy was this year based on the hype he had coming out of high school. You just don't know. At least with DJ, you know what you are getting.
