Anyone have any info from this game tonight? It looks like there are only 2 undecided players, and both have Georgetown among their top choices. We'll be in darn good shape if we secure one (if not both) of these players heading into next season. I really don't want to see a single Hoya leave (especially not DJ), but it appears that someone must be taking off, for why would be aggressively recruiting the '05 class? Does anyone know for sure that Jon Wallace is getting a scholly next year, or could he continue to walk on and get academic scholly/financial aid? Great performance tonight. I guess I'll focus on the NIT for now 'cause we have recruiting to discuss all off-season, but I can't help but think that this team could really be a contender if we get on big-time recruit. I like our chances if we don't add any one to our class, but if we are able to, we could really put together a special season.

More quotes:
>>The 6-8, 270-pound Thomas posted up, scored and drew fouls against highly touted standouts such as 6-11 Louisville recruit Amir Johnson of Westchester, Calif., and Williams.
"Once I got rolling, I showed everyone the kinds of moves I have," said Thomas, who has narrowed his college choices to Illinois, Kansas, Georgetown and Florida State.
"I went against some great athletes [Tuesday night], but once I get the ball down low, I'm unstoppable.">>
Not short on ego, but sounds like a Georgetown kinda player.

I had a few friends who attended the game and they saw the game like this--they are NEUTRAL fans too, not Hoyas.
1. Brandon Rush was best player at the game. He played the most balanced game of any prospect and didn't try to be a hotdog. He's going to be a Star in College and really has a nice all around game. Improved his handle and jumper since I saw him over Summer and he just makes game look easy--very smooth player.
2. Gerald Green is an athletic freak and very talented. He and Green have best longterm potential of anyone in this game. Byron Eaton and Green would make Oklahoma State a sick team next year but rumors are Green is heading to NBA Draft.
3. Josh McRoberts is a nice player but NOT a top 5 prospect in America--more Duke propaganda. He's good but not someone who has physical ability you expect from a top player in Country.
4. DeAndre Thomas was billed as "Baby Shaq" and really didn't belong in this game. He got 6/7 shots thrown in his face, was about 50-60 lbs OVERWEIGHT, and just didn't show well. (in addition to their comments, I've read a few times that DeAndre isn't the most intense player and often pouts when he's not getting ball).
5. Kids going to Louisville will fit in nicely with what Pitino does.
6. Danny Green and Bobby Frasor were solid prospects and Green has a nice temperment to his game. Very smart player and good passer. Frasor is a nice shooter and more athletic than I expected--but nothing to make you jump out of your seat. Better off dribble and quicker than he was during AAU Season.
Their notes regarding Hoyas Recruiting Targets and who'd fit our Program:
1. Rush is a guy GU should recruit no matter what. He's big time and kids seemed to like playing with him-- he got his points but off flow of game and was one of the few players who passed first and played solid basketball. He'd be a great fit in GU System as he's a guy capable of shooting from outside and attacking basket, not to mention he's got potential to be a terrific wing defender.
2. DeAndre Thomas is someone Hoyas should really re-consider. He's very out of shape and needs to lose a lot of fat and is an undersized post--6'7 is being generous. Doesn't run the floor that great and has limited moves down low--scored off cheapies you get in All Star Games and when he attempted to make moves against taller players, he ate his shot a lot. Think Hoyas should look elsewhere or hold off until next season for Post Player if he's best option.
These are from unaffiliated fans and based on what they've seen. They attended a few AAU Tournaments and saw most of these kids and they love CBB. Just thought I'd share another viewpoint on this and appreciated their outlook.

I got a chance to watch (on local TV) DeAndre Thomas play against Simeon in the Chicago Public League championship. He was dominant at times inside and got to the foul line a lot. However, I attribute it mostly to the fact the refs allowing him to push the Simeon guys around with impunity inside while refusing to ever whistle him for 3 seconds in the lane. The report of him being 50 lbs overweight certainly sound about right, if not generous. Nor is he particularly tall.
While Thomas was good, the best player in that game was Simeon sophomore Derrick Rose, who was second team all-state in Illinois this year and will be a star at the college level in 3 years.

www.suntimes.com/output/roundball/cst-spt-rbside23.htmlI'm not sure if I posted the link correctly, but after last night's game Thomas indicated that his Kansas is #1 on his list followed by Illinois. FSU and Gtown round out his list. I did not see the game, so I'm reserving judgement on Thomas. However, many recruiting analysts made similar comments (too heavy, gets his shot blocked, etc..) regarding Sweetney. Bob Gibbons has him as the #1 unsigned senior. I believe CSTV is broadcasting the game on 3/29. I saw Gerald Green over the summer and believe he is the best prospect in the senior class. After him, I'd probably go with Monta Ellis. Rush deserves to be mentioned, but he needs to be more consistent.

I think Thomas is waiting on Kansas. They are out of scholarships, and even if one opens up, they may choose to go with a guard.
Consensus on him seems to be he is a good starting role player, but not necessarily a star. Obviously has some upside.

Sweetney dedicated himself to getting in shape. I wonder if Thomas would do that, or if he would be dedicated to being first in the chow line. I have a hunch he won't choose us, anyway.
