Sounds like it's just in case of a weather emergency though: tracking.si.com/2013/02/12/nfl-super-bowl-saturday-metlife-stadium/Moving it to Saturday actually makes sense in general. Isn't the Monday after the Super Bowl like the least productive day of the year? Doesn't the Army give soldiers a half day off or something that day in recognition of that?

I think that's up to the Commander's discretion.

We already have Super Bowl Saturday when all the talk-heads discuss the upcoming game ad-nauseum. You wanna move that to Friday?

Who wouldn't want to stay at home and watch the Hoyas the day after, plus great commercials still.

Two things:
1) Everybody knows the Monday after Selection Sunday is the most unproductive day of the year.
2) What is nice about Sunday is that it feels like an "event" on a Sunday night. There is nothing else going on...no dates, no other plans, just the Superbowl.
