He's not a big East talent but would be great at VCU I have no idea about Owens but I believe VCU would thrive in the BE old & new. To me if you say he'll be good at VCU, then he can play @ G'town..

He's not a big East talent but would be great at VCU Cosigned. At least in the sense that the A10 is a better fit, talent wise, for him.

Owens has been promising ever since breaking onto the scene last July. The 2014 St. Vincent Pallotti (MD) power forward has a good feel for the game overall and has continued to work on his flaws on the court. Gifted with length, an improving mid-range jumper and some very athletic finishes on both sides of the ball, he is closing in on a decision soon. Considering Temple, VCU, Miami, Georgetown, Cincinnati and others, the original plan was to make a college decision before the spring was over. If he continues to play well, his stock could rise higher and new schools would come in. This could be a positive dilemma in Owens' college recruitment. recruitscoop.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1498143

Tariq Owens, 6’-9”, 2014, C, St. Vincent Pallotti (MD)/Bmores Finest – High-major coaches will have to take a long look at Owens this summer. He’s long and athletic in a way few others are, and shows some solid defensive instincts as well. His offensive game is more of a work in progress at the moment, but he’s also thin with plenty of upside. With former teammate Dwayne Morgan playing for Baltimore Elite in the Nike EYBL, Owens had extended minutes in the post, and shows well as an extremely intriguing live bodied interior player. hoopniks.com/under-armour-invitational-saturday-recap/

2014 St. Vincent Pallotti (MD) F Tariq Owens has narrowed his list to Miami, Temple, Ohio, and Cal State Northridge.

Evan Daniels @evandanielsfox 49m Tariq Owens commits to Ohio ...
Hoopniks @hoopniks 42m Tariq Owens is a steal for Ohio. His athleticism, size and length say high-major recruit all the way.

Good fit. He'll get run early there and develop into a high major player eventually. He's not one now though.

Really interesting option...late bloomer, local kid. Would seem to be a bit redundant as a less developed version of Copeland, but Tariq's best basketball is seemingly ahead of him. I'd be all for picking him up as a late signee.

Looks like he's really skinny (listed at 205 pounds, although that was Otto's weight) and, I assume based on his weight, is more of a 4/3 than a true big. That being said--collect talent.

Nope nope nope nope nope. Seen him play multiple times. Not a true big, would take a lot of time to develop into one and isn't a Big East level talent.

Alex Kline @therecruitscoop 2014 St. Vincent Pallotti (MD) PF Tariq Owens will choose between VCU & Miami. He will visit both shortly after the NCAA basketball season. Those sound like better fits for him, to be honest. Again, I really, really like his 2014 PG teammate though. Way to go, POD. That 2014 PG teammate, Marcquise Reed, is at Robert Morris and was their second leading scorer in their play in game win tonight.

Now just see if he wants to get into a high major conference. JT3 has had plenty of front court transfers but none for the back court.
