This is what I love about fans of D.C. pro sports franchises: You all never, EVER get ahead of yourselves.

In opener last year Skins beat Super Bowl champions-to-be Giants behind Rex Grossman.

Much props to RGIII. Saints defense gave him all day to throw to wide open receivers, though.

Every Columbus Day, they just have to straighten a few things out. Every Veterans' Day, wha happened? And Dungy compared him to Elway last night. After one game. Like the kid and wish him the best, but really?

But Griffin's debut was one of the best performances by a rookie QB in league history, so I think the excitement, at least about the longer term prospects for success, is justified. It's just one game, sure, but it was a pretty legendary start.

I watched the game (along with the very entertaining Detroit-Rams game) and let me just say, my post was not intended to diminish Robert Griffin's performance in any way. He was pretty awesome. If his O-line gives him that high quality of play throughout the season, he's gonna' have a great year. No, my post was more directed at D.C. fans. Hey, fans everywhere are great, and it's always nice to be hopeful (except for us Hoya fans, who like to live our lives constantly on the crumbling edge of the cliff overlooking the jagged rocks below ;D ) But... Every year, the Redskins are going to the Super Bowl if they win their first game (or even if they look strong in the pre-season). The Nats have never been to a post-season, let alone won a playoff game, but apparently, they are a dynasty in the making in one of the most competitive divisions in baseball and THE most difficult of any of the major sports to make the playoffs. And, of course, this is the year for the Caps!! No, really!! They have addressed none of their problems, but they're going to get out of the second round. I promise!! Poor Wizards. One of these days, you'll get some of that delusion headed your way. Anyway, good luck to the rookie. He's got some pretty tough defenses in his division, a lot better than the Saints, but I am, believe it or not, hoping he has a great year. Even if I don't like the Skins. The NFL is always better with exciting players like Griffin in the league. Also, on a separate but related subject: I have really missed Deion Sanders. He's flippin' awesome!! ;D EDIT: I realize nashville never said the Skins were going to the Super Bowl; my initial response was more a reaction to the FB and Twitterverses yesterday. nashville just provided a venue.

I hear you. Redskins fans may be the most delusional, unrealistic fanbase in all of sports (makes sense, as the bulk of them are also Terps fans). But at least RG3 will make them fun to watch, even if they can't keep up the pace from yesterday. And I actually do think the Nats have the potential to have a very long run as a top tier team. Their roster is just loaded. So many variables in baseball, and it's an historically tough division, but goodness is that a strong, young team at the moment. Caps, meh. But Hoyas = FINAL FOUR. This is the year.
