wow I hadn't really thought about the implications when I first heard about this. Maybe I'm a bad person, but I would love to see Duke's 2010 title stripped and Duke exposed.

LMAO---"integrity" and NCAA--you mean like allowing what happened at UNC to go by while stressing the importance of "Student-athletes". UNC/Duke are above punishment and now that it's known--if I were a school that scheduled them, I'd drop them and not play them until equal justice is provided. Moses can't play due to a plane ticket issue, but it's alright for UNC to have a fake class that athletes are directed to take and has been going on for about 10 years. Yep--makes sense to me. It'll be fine for Lance Thomas to do this--but Marcus Camby couldn't--and remember, we've got people who suck up to UNC as our "cousin" and hate Duke--but act like Calipari is Satan when facts are showing that whether a program says the correct things and permeates "class"--they know how to play the game. I expect this to workout for Duke just as Myron Piggie's cheating did, the payments/jobs given to Boozer/Duhon's parents did, etc.....and it'll be much to do about nothing.

I assume although I'm sure they didn't state it that the NCAA did not pursue the UNC case (although I heard it's far from shut still) is that it would in theory mean they had to make sure that all colleges course were legitimate and they certainly don't have the man power to do that. Not saying that's right, but I can at least understand that.

This thing gets buried because it is Duke and the 15-day term of the loan...unless the jeweler sings, but my guess this is not the first time the jeweler has made a loan to NCAA athlete.

To put it mildly, I think the NCAA has become a complete joke and won't do anything here unless they are absolutely forced to do so. (No matter what the facts turn out to be.)
But can we just repudiate the NCAA's creepy practice of whitewashing history? I don't care what you think of Paterno, Bobby Bowden, Pete Carroll, Calipari, etc. Their teams actually won those games. We all saw them. The film doesn't lie. We can't stop some empty suit from the NCAA from altering their own record book. But I have no idea why anyone would pay them any mind. Punish people who actually did something wrong and move on.

The NCAA is a total laughing stock. The "enforcement" division might as well be disbanded.

Not saying that's right, but I can at least understand that. I can't. No one would expect the NCAA to have the manpower to track every college course. That's ludicrous. But when obvious abuse comes to light, that doesn't mean the NCAA should be able to go into its ostrich routine. The NCAA's approach to UNC to this point is an abomination.

Why is no one asking how a college kid is able to put a $30K down payment on jewelry? And why the jeweler thought he would be able to pay off $67K more in 15 days?

It is my understanding that Lance Thomas family could afford to pay for the jewelry. His mother is employed with a very good salary as a corporate manager.

Punish people who actually did something wrong and move on. No, their teams did not ACTUALLY win those games. In PSU's case, maybe that's true; a DC or ex-coach raping kids in the locker room had no effect on the outcome of the game. You can't say that in Calipari's situation however. Derrick Rose cheated on his SAT, he did not qualify to play college basketball at Memphis, he never should have been on the court that year. You are free to strip those games and the resulting Final Four appearance from Memphis as a result. I'll concede that a situation like Reggie Bush and Cam Newton fall into a gray-er area. Absent the infusions of booster/agent cash, would they have been part of those programs? Those schools definitely had an illegal, unfair advantage in fielding a team, so maybe those wins are also suspect.
