I say Booth and Newton cancel each other out. I'd prefer Bentil, Robinson, Lattin, a guard and a surprise recruit. Love Kevon, but dream is fading.

Where would we say 2014 priorities are now, with Issac and Tre in the fold?
Bigs-E. Robinson, Lattim, Bentil, Chukwu? Wings-Looney, Wiley, D. Robinson, Rodriguez, Oubre?

I'd say bigs. A 5 then a 2 or a 4.

Don't think we need a 2 anytime soon. A 5, then another 4. And then another 1, then a wing.

IMO we're in a position to pick the best player wanting to come to GU, and not by need of position.

I disagree pr, what do we do if Josh can't play in '14? Maybe Moses, and Hayes progress, maybe not.

Looney has grown into a 4 and no longer a wing. He's like 6'9 220 now. Bigger than Copeland. I'm seeing a top five class with either Robinson or Looney and obviously with both.

Ideally, a true pg should attract better players, so a Looney/Robinson or a Bentil/Robinson coup would spell trouble for the BE and cbb.

Elite 2014 PF is in high demandinsider.espn.go.com/blog/dave-telep/post?id=3528Being labeled a tweener is something many prospects might run from, but Looney doesn’t think much about it. “I’m a three-four, it don’t really matter," he said. "I just love being on the court and I’m going to make plays wherever you put me at.”
Duke recently began making a big play for him. Mike Krzyzewski doesn’t see a lot of underclassmen during the season, but he went to see Looney. The Blue Devils made a definite impression.
“For sure, I think my parents are pretty sold they want to see Duke,” Looney said. “So Duke, Michigan State and Florida are up there as some I might want to see (officially), but it could change.”

Not sure where this started about Smith. He has 1 1/2 years of eligibility left by all accounts. When he departed UCLA, the news media reported the same out here in SoCal. The only reason he would not play in 2014 that I can think of is if he is academically ineligible or he attempted to leave school early for a professional career. I cannot discount either, but from what I know about this kid, grades has not been a problem.

The NCAA doesn't normally break up eligibility into semesters. GU has put in a waiver to see if they can recoup last season's 81 minutes and get two seasons (3 semesters) out of him. I have no idea what excuse they are using in their attempt to get 2 seasons out of Smith. I'd guess something do to with weight and stress.
So if Josh has one season of eligibility left, do they use it in 14-15 or do they use it next season in just one semester...meaning he will miss around 10 or so games.

I am not sure why there is so much misinformation about Josh Smith around here. When you transfer, you need to sit out one "academic" year which is defined by the NCAA as 2 semesters. Thus, Smith becomes eligible when finals end (December 19), and then has 3 semesters of eligibility left. Nikita Mescheriakov did the exact same thing when he left Georgetown in his junior year and transferred to Wake Forest. There should be no need for any waivers, unless they seek to have him play in the fall (doubtful).

OK Nikita played 1 and a half seasons (3 semesters) at Georgetown and then 1 and a half seasons (3 semesters) at Wake. Look it up.
08-09 - Georgetown 09-10 - Georgetown (Fall) 10-11 - Wake (Spring) 11-12 - Wake
Nikita didn't get 3 semesters at Georgetown and then 5 at Wake to play basketball.
In Josh's case, he played
10-11 UCLA 11-12 UCLA 12-13 UCLA (Fall)
He's got one more season of basketball remaining. The only question is if he uses it next year after the completion of the fall semester or during the 14-15 season.

Marc Egerson is another example of a mid year transfer.
05-06 Georgetown 06-07 Georgetown (Fall) 07-08 Delaware (Spring) 08-09 Delaware
Again, he got 1.5 seasons at Georgetown and then 1.5 seasons at Delaware.
