This isn't some random dude--kid can play. Saw him last Summer at event and he was impressive. Physical and high motor--goes all out all game. Likes to bang--but has skill. Nebraska coaches said he'd be highly coveted this year and they weren't wrong.

Impressive on video, against mediocre looking comp. Definitely long and athletic and seems to go pretty hard.
Who was the last kid we recruited from Nebraska?

I don't get overly impressed very easily...but d@mn. Physically, the kid looks like he has great body control and footwork, agility, and a huge wingspan. The thing that stood out to me is how many different things he can do. Whoever cut his highlight video should be applauded because he shows something a little different in each clip. What impressed me the most was how comfortable he looked handling the ball when he needed to. And even though he's going against kids 5 inches shorter than he is, I really like that he actually will go to the block and make basketball moves rather than just try to overpower the defender. The jumper doesn't look bad either and is just icing on the cake.

Just watched the clips. With how thin the 2013 class is on bigs, I'm a little shocked he's not ranked in the top 100. Maybe it's the fact that he plays in Nebraska though.

georgetown.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1361622Rivals.com wasn't in attendance at the Real Deal in the Rock over the weekend, but judging by the phone calls that have come in, Akoy Agau must have played well in Arkansas. According to some coaches that contacted Rivals.com, the Omaha (Neb.) Central prospect has grown to around 6-foot-9 and 230 pounds, and displayed improved athleticism and high-level rebounding. Clint Jackson of TarHeelIllustrated.com spoke with Agau's summer coach, Scott Hammer, Wednesday morning and according to Hammer, Agau now has offers from Georgetown, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Marquette, Iowa State, Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado State and others, with more interest coming daily.

Scout update from Dallas claims Agau has a Hoyas offer. Others to offer include Nebraska, Iowa and Creighton. Writeup on him:
"Akoy Agau, C, All-Iowa Attack – It was the first viewing of Agau this spring, and he left a definite impression. Agau is a big presence on the block who has some ability to score off of post moves, and then runs the floor well. An average athlete, he knows how to play and is creative in clearing space for himself. Also Agau showed a decent feel for how to pass from both the low post and the high post."

As a native Omahan, I have seen Omaha Central play several times. Agau is playing against absolutely no competition. He plays the 5, has very little handle and needs to work on his strength. A project for sure but he does have a motor. It would be easy for him to slack off but he hustles regardless of the competition he plays against. Creighton is about 3 blocks from his high school. However, it does not sound like staying close to home is a problem for someone from the Sudan.

Rivals writeup from Dallas:
"4. Agau makes a name for himself
The All-Iowa Attack is the only team in the EYBL without a win. However, 6-foot-8 class of 2013 power forward Akoy Agau was impressive in his first EYBL run. The product of Omaha (Neb.) Central showed off length, a nose for the ball, offensive skill and a great motor while averaging around 15.5 points and seven rebounds during his first four games of the weekend.
During Sunday's final game against Boo Williams, the three-star went down with an injury and the hope is that it's not serious. As things stand, he's looking good to crack the Rivals150 for his class the next time it's updated.
Agau currently claims offers from Clemson, Creighton, Georgetown, Iowa, Nebraska and many others. Look for him to be a guy that high majors watch very closely once July rolls around."

Wow other than the ageless one who plays for Boston and Walker last year what players has Calhoun "developed"? Just because a guy is 6'10"-7'0" and gets drafted but, does nothing special does not mean he has been developed.

Rip Hamilton was not to bad. Drummond and Lamb will be a work in progress, but worth the risk.

Some guys are built to make the league and coaches get credit for their "development" when, sometimes, they shouldn't. Drummond is a case in point. That said, Calhoun isn't a great developer of talent but he's not nearly as bad as that southern Canadian coach that gets more senseless praise for "developing" players than pretty much anyone else.

Ray Allen, Caron Butler, Richard Hamilton, Donyell Marshall, Kemba Walker, Rudy Gay, Ben Gordon, Emeka Okafor, Charlie Villanueva
I hate UConn, but all these guys have had good to great NBA careers and there are a bunch of scrubs out there as well. Saying Calhoun develops NBA players is much more on the mark than anyone who says Boeheim does, for example.

rlie V. did not have a good/great nba career. emeka didn't develop at all after being picked #2 overall (and some thought he should go above Dwight Howard), and Kemba has played for one year in the league and didn't do all that much.
not saying calhoun isn't a good developer of talent, but that list is longer than he deserves and lacks a real PF or C type outside of Okafor who dissapointed (and don't forget Thabust) when he's had plenty of potential prospects go through his system @ those positions.
