journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/article_5edd39af-a959-5d15-81fe-03078c7598d8.htmlMcVeigh joins prep signees Glynn Watson, Ed Morrow and Michael Jacobson in the 2015 recruiting class, meaning Nebraska is full on scholarships for next season. That casts doubt on whether Nebraska continues to pursue Louisville transfer and Omaha Central graduate Akoy Agau, who was tentatively scheduled for an official visit this week.
Agau, a 6-9 forward, visited unofficially along with McVeigh last week. He’s also unofficially visited Marquette and UMKC, and is interested in Wichita State and Georgetown, per sources with knowledge of his recruitment.

Love drawing those conclusions based on internet videos... boya, you do remember that we recruited him heavily when he was coming out, right? In fact, just before he visited L'ville and subsequently announced for the Cards, Agau named the Hoyas as his leader. Think I'll trust III on this one. Not to mention that he wasn't so much as recruited over as he decided to go to a school that already had a stable of bugs in line to replace Dieng. I remember being surprised that he picked them because of the other imminent commits and other bugs already on the roster, but that's just how he top flight college programs do it. He would could easily get 4 buckets a game after all this time, don't really see why people are so quick to limit his potential. He has a late riser and committed to Louisville after a lot of tourney success and was probably misled a little in what they thought his role may be. He seems to have very big hands an an enormous 7'4" wingspan. Players with those type of measurables usually have higher ceilings than the average, and for him to be so high on the Hoyas it must mean that he values the potential development we could offer him. I see him more as a 4/3, but I admittedly haven't seen enough on him lately to confirm that. I don't know, he kind of looks like the garbage clean up guy in some highlights, but in others he's displaying top-notch, Montrezl Harrell type athleticism with a nose for the ball and a good enough motor and frame to go along with it. Those bugs unfortunately do not grow on trees, but he is by no means deal breaker for next season.

Agau is down to three schools...Quette, Nebraska and us. We are very serious about him and think he'd contribute right away. We'll see how this plays out.

Those bugs unfortunately do not grow on trees, but he is by no means deal breaker for next season. L'ville had Behanan & Harrell at PF and RS freshman Mathiang at C on the roster when Agua was a freshman.. That's hardly a stable especially at center.. Remember too that Behanan was kicked off the team last year.. Not sure what "imminent" recruits you're referring to but Onuaku, Mahmoud & Stockman were all uncommitted at the time Agua signed with L'ville, in fact they were all signed later in the recruiting season.. To me you can't be revisionist about his time at L'ville, I like Yaboy's take that he didn't fit their system best of all.. I hope the kid commits to the staff and although I have my doubts about how much immediate impact he'll have I do think he can become a nice contributor long term.. This issue with Bigs should have been addressed a long time ago..

According to a few Twitter reports, Agau cancelled yesterday's visit to Nebraska and was not there.

Didn't make scheduled trip to Nebraska yesterday (no scholarships).

Well, if it is between Georgetown and Marquette, I'm feeling reasonably good about GU's chances.
"Let's see. . .on one hand, I can play for Wojo. On the other hand, I can play for JT3. Decisions, decisions."

This is absolutely wonderful news. After mid-December, we'll have White, Copeland, and Derrickson who can play at PF, and Govan, Agau, and Hayes who can play at Center (Agau can probably play at forward too). This gives us great depth that we would not have had with Smith and Hopkins graduating.
Now, if we can just land a skilled guard (or two), we'll be in very good shape for next year.

So is our next target a guard who can shoot it from deep? Would be great to add a transfer like that as well.

That article says he'd have 2.5 years of eligibility left. I thought it's 1.5? Either way, it's a good result for us.

Question: Does he have 2.5 years of eligibility remaining?

Welcome Akoy! I remember us all being upset when he signed with Louisville the first time. Glad to have finally landed him. I think he'll be a great addition and really help shore up the front court.
I think White and Copeland will see a lot of minutes at the 3.
Back Court: DSR, Campbell, Peak 3/4s: White, Copeland, Derrickson Bigs: Govan, Akoy, Hayes
Those are the 9 contributors I see right now. Need to add a guard next.

Question: Does he have 2.5 years of eligibility remaining? yes 2.5 years left. He's played 1.5 so he has 2.5 left.
