RDF, I know its a pipe dream but any chance Wiggins has mentioned the Hoyas anywhere?
Thanks for all the reports and making sure that Georgetown is seen in attendance (outside of the staff).
Finally, for '14 we have at least 2 schollys (Markel and Lubick). It obviously depends on what we get this year and next year but I assume that a PG and large wing would be ideal? Did you say those are the 2 strongest positions in the class so far?
Its too bad the '13 class is weak on centers, if we don't get Hayes this year, hopefully we can find another similar late developer next year. While I'd rather get a PG and wing/PF for '14, how do the centers look? Iirc we will have Moses (RS SR), Adams (RS JR), Bolden (JR) and Hopkins (Sr)(although I think he may end up being a 4), while that is great depth, losing 2 the next year will hurt so another C or PF/C could be useful to bring in that year.
Thanks again RDF and the rest of you following AAU!
PS on that note, any non-AAU players we are watching?
EDIT: who is Xavier Rathan-Mayes? Are the Hoyas actually on him?

Also any chance we can include 14-15 into the scholarship table? Maybe even take out 10-11?

BeeJay Anya should be playing left tackle for the DeMatha football team. If he did, he'd be looking at a long, and lucrative, career in the NFL. Not many players with his body type play in the NBA, and the ones that do, are much more advanced offensively at this point in their high school careers and have much better footwork. It says something about the 2013 class that he's as highly rated as he is and this is coming from a DeMatha guy. If I saw it, I'd have no problem saying it. Having said that, I hope he beasts out this year and we destroy every opponent in our path on the way to the city title.
I've been a fan of Rathan-Mayes for a while and agree he'll be a high four-star, low five-star player before it's all said and done.
I'm lukewarm on Meeks and it all boils down to his conditioning and his mentality. Obviously skilled and is a thinking man's big man. Knows the game. His passing ability alone would make him a good fit at GU. However, if he stays at the weight he is now, he'll never reach his potential. I'll give Anya and Alan Stein credit, they knew Anya was way too heavy and they worked on it and he dropped a lot of bad weight and is a better player for it. If Meeks works on his physique and becoming more explosive near the basket, he'll be a very good college player. However, with that, he'll need to get rid of the mentality that since he's a "big boy" it's okay for him to be the last guy down the floor on defense and it's okay to pace himself so he won't get tired. It's one of the most frustrating things as a coach dealing with and you can see it with him. If he works on those two things, I'd welcome him with open arms because the ability is there.

Hoyas shouldn't waste one minute on Wiggins. It will never happen imho

Thing to take into account with the recaps of the events--what games did you watch someone. Now I could tell you about a lot of non Hoya targets--and only 1 I really love to talk about are Wiggins/Houston Hoops--but some of them do hear from Georgetown but realistically dont' see it happening. But who did you see them play and more importantly I look at how they translate to next level. Do they have a position-like Jonathan Williams III--listed at 6'9 225, and I'd say he's legit 6'7. I talked to his former AAU coach whose son is on team now, parent of player on team and a few coaches and the summary is what does he do? It's neat to see a 6'7 guy dribble at top of key--but what is it accomplishing? He doesn't post. He can't score consistently at any level. Struggled to finish/went up soft, no post moves, no face up, no jumper, so what does he do? He hustled/defended against Mac Irvin--but also missed Ft's that cost his team the game. Just vastly overrated or had worst weekend of his life.
Xavier Rathan Mayes is Andrew Wiggins HS Teammate at Huntington Prep in WV. He's a 6'3-6'4 combo guard and lights out shooter. Built like Andre Miller and showed some nice PG skills when forced to play due to Tyler Ennis visit to trainer--which happened far too often when he took a bad shot/screwed up. Ennis isn't bad player but soft as baby's cheeks.
Hometown-there is no chance Wiggins will end up a Hoya. He'll re-classify and Kentucky was on him hard--and has been. Florida State is where his parents went (dad is former NBA player Mitchell Wiggins) and they were at his games too. He's a lot like Kobe Bryant was in HS--and if NBA changes the rule to 2 and done if you go to college-but you can enter draft out of HS--he'll never play college ball. He'll re-classify as long as rule is 1 and done but he's worth price of admission. Rathan Mayes is perfect compliment to him too--and they are good friends off the court as well. Know Kentucky hosted them for 2 games this year--and one was UNC game. UNC will try and get involved too.
Whomever said Meeks "dominated" Randle is wrong--but Meeks was impressive against him--in that he figured out a way to play him. Meeks has a very good IQ on court-but his lack of conditioning going into his SR year has to be addressed. He's 40 lbs overweight. I don't see him ever having lift--even with weight loss but he wears down and makes bad mistakes late in games and it's due to being mentally/physically fatigued--where Randle got stronger and made 4 plays that won game. Randle had 16 pts (game winning hoop) 8 boards, 8 assists, 5 blocks, 4-5 steals--he was far from dominated. For those who haven't seen Randle play--he's ideal for Georgetown-he's 6'9 230-240 and chiseled. He plays a lot of PG for his team and likes to face hoop/drive. Not a great shooter but a freakish athlete and a GREAT passer. Too bad hes not interested in Hoyas--as he'd be their top target.
Also disagree completely about Rondae Jefferson--he's a SF all the way. He played well and on a team of disappointing mid major caliber player--Austin Colbert is overrated and soft and Davon Reed is a role player on a good team but starter on mid/low major team. Jefferson can do a little bit of everything and without flash that others show-but it gets done. I'd love him to be a Hoya.
Anya has put a few lbs back on Deacon. He needs to maintain his fitness. Meeks is a better basketball player but Anya has done the work needed to do. Anya will be a nice role player in college but agree--he'd be a millionaire as a CFB prospect.

I've been a fan of Rathan-Mayes for a while and agree he'll be a high four-star, low five-star player before it's all said and done. Whats his game like? Doron Lamb comparison isn't bad--although Lamb is better in mid range/driving to basket-but Rathan Mayes drives well and handles well--but needs to lose 10-15 lbs to get quicker. He can shoot the ball and has deep range. Smart player too.

RDF, I know its a pipe dream but any chance Wiggins has mentioned the Hoyas anywhere? Well, Higgins all-time favorite player is Iverson. Unfortunately outside of possibly Chris Wright, Georgetown has never been able to take advantage of the Iverson connection on the recruiting front. For God's sake Calipari got more mileage out of Iverson when he was at Memphis and successfully recruited DaJuan Wagner and other highly regarded pg dudes. Calipari used to play up his one year as an assistant coach on the Sixers when Iverson was also part of the team. But, hey, that's what a good recruiter does. I take it back regarding Wright. He picked NC State and only went to GU after Sendek stepped down. From a recruiting standpoint Georgetown all but squandered the Iverson years. From 1996 on.

Jamel Artis showed up at Boo Williams and had strong day--leading Baltimore Elite over TakeOver and upsetting Bluff City Legends as well.
TakeOver upset Houston Hoops (shocking based on seeing both teams) with an Ishmael Wainright 3pt shot at buzzer. Big win for Takeover who has been struggling. Josh Hart lauded for playing hard--struggled shooting but had 11 boards in one game.
Shane Rector led NJ Playaz to upset win over Oakland Soldier--Soldiers are without their best player (Aaron Gordon) but Rector is putting up numbers and drawing a lot of fouls/getting to FT line. Hope Hoyas turn it up with him.
Rondae Jefferson got called "an athletic Kyle Anderson"--and he keeps drawing more attention. Not a great shooter yet--but great player/floor game and far more athletic then Kyle--not the passer Kyle is--but better defender/driver and a very good passer.
Hoyas getting mentioned at event in Philly with Jermaine Lawrence out of NYC. He's having a huge Spring so far-and that would be type of kid that Broadus might be able to help get them more involved with--keep an eye on him-but everyone is taking notice of him.
Kam Williams of Baltimore Elite didn't meniton Georgetown in update-but continuing to have a strong EYBL showing and shooting it outstanding from 3.
DeAngelo Allen of Showtime Elite (TX) listed Hoyas today. A class of '14 forward--6'6 from Dallas Kimball HS.
Jajuan Johnson having big time weekend at Boo for Bluff City and mentioned Hoyas--but no offer.
Nick King has Hoyas in top 5 (will that continue with Kirby gone?)
Jonathan Williams III had 2 strong games against mediocre teams and stunk against the tough/physical Baltimore Elite. Him falling off Hoyas radar--good news imo--but we'll see how it goes.
Marcus Derrickson is putting on a show at EYBL--(Boo Williams is opening event for younger age groups) and getting a ton of praise.
With III/Broadus at Real Deal in Arkansas--all you get is "Georgetown at game"--so assume it's Hunter--since Meeks is there and he wanted to see Raekwon Harney--who has played a total of 16 min in 3 games (not much to see).
Word I got last weekend was Meeks was leaning Georgetown's way-so him deciding soon would be interesting--should be a Hoya. However-you have Bradley Hayes visiting next weekend and if he pulls trigger--does that change things for Meeks/his offer? Orlando Early was with Gottfried at the EYBL in MPLS--and Bobby Lutz rumored to be Va Tech top choice--that makes sense--so his departure wouldn't change much in regard to Meeks. UNC doesn't want him--they are on others--Julius Randle, Jabari Parker, etc. and Louisville prefers Moses Kingsley right now.
an old Hoya target--rumors at Boo are that Troy Williams will be a Tar Heel as soon as this week-makes sense--Roy Williams/Steve Robinson were at his games all last weekend and UNC has been at all of them this weekend. Kentucky hot/cold. Guy's stock is dropping a bit due to what most of fans here who have seen him play--he's not skilled and very raw. Athletic prospect/talent is there--but far from being a top 25 player imo. Think whomever "loses" this recruitment won't shed any tears.
Dakari Johnson wants to decide by end of his upcoming JR season. Mentioned Kentucky/Cuse--but is open and has mentioned Hoyas several times--along with being in attendance at Midnight Madness 2 years ago. Best young big I saw at EYBL after his dramatic improvement in conditioning.
Hoyas tracked Stephen Domingo at Real Deal and Jaron Hopkins too--kid from AZ plays with Compton Magic AAU team. Athletic/bigger PG.
Hoyas mentioned with Rashad Vaughn--class of '14 from MPLS-but don't get your hopes up-know him personally and as of last Wednesday--don't see this one happening. Best for Hoyas to look in another direction.

The Lawrence kid from Queens is a baller, has a nice versatile game is smart and athletic. He was playing at Cordoza, him and the team were playing well, and then he just up and transferred to some school in NJ in the middle of the season… No clue as to why

Lawrence transferred to Pope John in Sparta NJ, which just happens to be about 5 minutes from my house. I will be going to watch a good majoriy of lawrences games. Having seen him in a few games already, I can say that his kid has unreal potential, and he would be an amazing get for this team.

Queens to Sparta is not 1hour, it's way longer. Doing it every day is brutal, especially to go to a school that is not a big time basketball school. Interesting choice

Fastest PG prospect at the event BY FAR. He's a blur with the ball and knows how to play--would've had more assists but his teammates can't shoot and the chemistry with Allerick Freeman was off--their first time playing together as Freeman joined Boo for this year's EYBL after playing with Team Florida last year. Needs to work on his jumpshot but he's capable of getting in the paint and he's built to be in transition style program.
