Look, we are only down 3 and I believe that if we play our game we are a better team than NC State. We have another half to prove or disprove that theory. Let's get to it.

Still don't know why we didn't milk the clock more those last 7 minutes.
We played horribly closing the half and we didn't have Henry for most of it, but are down by 3 only. It's better than I expected after seeing Hank go to the bench so early and NCSt.'s solid FC. We survived that half.
2nd half is HANK TIME!

They're ahead because they've absolutely dominated us on their offensive glass at a time when our defense was otherwise terrific, and we've had absolutely no answers on offense other than hoping that our 3s go in. Maybe the former was affected by foul trouble, but the latter was true even when Henry was there. Unless we find a solution to getting some easy buckets inside, we're going to suffer long scoring droughts and that puts huge pressure on our defense. We're basically seeing the Cincinnati recipe. Eerily similar team. I don't think this team is at all similar to Cincinnati. We fell in love with the three because we are scared of picking up charges and getting denied inside. Plus they fell early and we stuck with it too long. Really I think we just got lazy and complacent the last five minutes and gave NC State too many easy looks. Slow down the pace in the second half, take care of the ball, rebound and play defense and we can win this game. I wouldn't call it laziness, but the guards definitely got frustrated with the long FG doubt and starting launching ill-advised 3s. I missed too many games this year, but I can't remember many when we consistently demonstrated a problem cracking the other side's defense where we suddenly got it together and won. The only sure way to win this is to lock them down completely on defense and to clean up the glass. Then if we can somehow stay within hailing distance of a point per possession by not constantly turning it over, we will win even if all our points come via the jump shot.

What's with all the crying about officials? NC State is more aggressive, they are tougher right now and Hoyas need to value the ball (a repeat theme for them for years now) and get up more shots. If anything--I'm happy they are only down 3 at the half--they deserve to be down about 10 the way they played. Key swing in the momentum--ANOTHER offensive rebound for an opponent off 2 missed FT's--and it got them going--instead of a 7 pt lead and ball--you give them an easy putback and then a 3, and then team gets a turnover (Lane violation on Nate's FT didn't matter--did you see that attempt? YUCK) and another, and another and an extremely strange lineup on court together when offense is struggling. That's bad news--good news--they have 20 minutes left to play better. Just want to see more aggressive team--get after it as a team and quit trying to look for perfect shot--get some shots up and get the ball up into the frontcourt quicker so they can get into their set quicker. Whatever. 4 players with two fouls, 3 of which are post players. Hard to stay ahead when that happens. Oh yeah, hard to prevent offensive rebounds when that happens.

Taking Henry out was the right move. Make sure he's there, and can play, in the Vesper.

Time for Mr. Clark to calm down and play within the offense. It also may be time for the second round drarf choice to come out of 3 weeks of hibernation.

Also I think there should be a diving call like in soccer. I don't think flopping should be allowed to be viable strategy. It ruins the game

Is anybody surprised that G'town gave up a decent lead? They have done it all year. IMO, I think they get too comfortable when they are playing well, and then become too content, energy dips, and they get careless/unfocused.

Just protect than ball and hit the boards. 11 turnovers? 9 offensive rebounds for NC State? Fix those things and not even Teddy Valentine can ruin your day.

We're doing this to ourselves, that's what is most painful. None of the other factors would matter if we were playing a good game.

We can't blame refs, Henry's plays were just dumb. Agreed w/r/t Henry, but as competition and entertainment, this game is being wrecked by way too many whistles on both ends of the floor.

Wouldnt the game be better with the 6 foul rule in the College game. This would make the game less on the ref's and more on the players.. No friggin way do I ever want to see that again. Big East did that--and it was a complete disaster. Only because it was for the big east only, and when we got to the tournament we could not adjust. Im talking about for every conference. Its the smart move. Its hard for good big men to play aggressive in the college game especially with the ref's calling every foul..

We need a very very big second half from Henry Sims. 20 minutes to make it right.

Barkley with a good point that Hoyas "fell in love with the jump shot" ... true, but ignores the fact that the refs took the Hoyas most reliable inside threat (Sims) off the court 6 minutes into the game. Sorry, Dan, but Henry took himself out 6 minutes in, not the refs. Give me a break.

Please. That 2nd call was not even close. The defender was still moving.
The turning point was when Trawick got hammered on the 3 with no call, and then NCState came down and hit a 3. Would have been up 9 (if he hit FTs), instead we were just up 3 and a huge momentum shift.

Its not unusual that we might play 10 minutes of terrible basketball per game. Lets hope these next 20 min arent like those last 10.
