NCSU went 7-9 in a top-heavy ACC, then won two games in the ACC Tourney against a terrible FSU team and a Chris-Paul-less Wake. Their best win out of conference was against Purdue, they lost to SJU and WVU, and they beat a bunch of creampuffs early.
Do they deserve a tourney bid?

NC State didn't deserve a bid over either GU or ND, but certainly not over Indiana or Depaul, the two teams who I think got screwed the most in this whole thing...

The injury 'bug' hit them hard this season...
I think they're playing well at the right time...
Considering we faltered against Providence and St. John's, I can see them getting in...
Notre Dame...I didn't think they did enough down the stretch...didn't they lose to Seton Hall and Rutgers?
How in the world did UCLA get in?

I have followed them throughout the year down here and Tony Bethel's absence was huge for them. Since he has come back they have been a different team and closed 6-3 with the 3 losses being to UNC, Duke and WF.

How come Bethel didn't play in the last two ACC tourney games? Same injury?
Two reasons I would have picked NC State over Georgetown: 19 wins versus 17 wins and a good finish to the season versus a bad finish to the season. In the other criterea, we're about equal. I have no problem with NC State being in the tourney.

Bethel had a hamstring injury for both games.
That win over Wake was pretty big for them...although I discount it slightly without Paul playing.
We didn't deserve to get in, but we were closer than people think IMO. Oh well...win the NIT!!!

They had three big wins, and one was versus a Paul-less Wake and one was versus an Elder-less Tech. Woohoo. They got helped by injuries as well.

Elder tends to suck it up a lot though.
See yesterday's 3-17 shooting performance.

I'll say it for the 100th time -- you should have to at least go .500 in your own conference to get an at-large bid. Going 7-9 in the ACC this year would be like going 6-10 or 5-11 in the Big East.

Thank you SaxaCd. Even given the ACC tourney, NCSU was 9-10 in the ACC, with their biggest win against Wake w/o Paul. Compare that to 9-8 for ND w/ wins over BC and UConn, or 9-9 for Gtown. Probably none of these teams deserved a bid, but to give the bid to NCSU makes no sense...unless it would hurt some feelings to give the Big East seven bids and the ACC only four...

It seems like this year all the bubble teams have more holes than usual. Looking at NC State's resume, I don't think they deserve being in, but I know that G-town, ND and MD don't deserve it either. Past years, it always seemed like someone legitimately got screwed, but I don't think any of the bubble teams have compelling cases (admitting ignorance of the resumes of juggernauts like Buffalo and Holy Cross).
