...I was looking up the recruits for next year and I got all 'Goose-Pimply'...
I didn't realize that Egerson and Spann were that tall...
I hope Tyler Crawford doesn't get lost in the 'mix' because he looks like he could be a "throw-back" Hoya...looks like he can be a 'Mark Tillmon' type...

Crawford is really a 3 in a 2's body.

I'm quite sure Tillmon was shooting guard...Duane Bryant and Charles Smith were the Point guards when Tillmon was here...

I love what Tyler brought to the table this year. The fact that Coach actually called out Tyler as being a "worker" means he likely has a high opinion of him too, and will continue to play him minutes the more he works.

Does anyone else remember Tillmon running point?

Tillmon (nice guy, by the way) was a 2. He was classmates with Bryant who was the point guard. If Tillmon ever played point, it was very limited. In addition to Bryant, there was Charles Smith and Bobby Winston playing the point on those teams.

Do you remember Big John yelling obscenities at Bobby Winston? "COVER THE 'EFF-ING' BASELINE, BOBBY!!!"

Crawford was so good getting loose for backdoor layups (although he missed a few), that I feel his time will only increase. The backdoor, and more importantly, the threat of the backdoor is the signature play in this offense. It keeps the D honest, which opens up things no the perimeter, plus it is so fun to watch when it is run correctly.

Does anyone else remember Tillmon running point? I think what The_Way is remembering is that late in Bryant's senior year we would more than occasionally have Tillmon handle the ball in order to get Bryant some catch and shoot spot up jumpers. It was not, however, the primary way we ran the offense.

A couple of times during the UCONN game I was saying, "JEFF!! What the hel....OH!!! Nice Pass!!!"

Bryant and David Edwards manned the point during Bryant and Tillmon's senior year. ANtoine Stoudamire was Tillmon's backup. Next year's guard rotation will be fearsome with Cook, Reed, Crawford, Sapp and Thornton all fighting for minutes. Edgerson, Bowman, and Spann round out what could be a pressing stormtrooper-like perimeter group. A quick aside: Ray Reed's play against UCONN put us in position to win that game. His defense was (dare I say?) almost a little Gene Smith-like.

agree, paranoia- I have said all year that Ray has a definite role on this team, that of defensive stopper on quick PGs. He did that very well last weekend.

If Bowman is more assertive on offense, he can have a BEAST of a season...a couple of those drives against UCONN, he should have been 'flushin'' that ball down Villanueva's throat...

Yeah, you are right HoyaChris. definitely remember that also... we use to do the same with Iverson...they'd let Victor, Boubacar, or Joseph get things started at the top and Allen would run the baseline or pop-off a screen...

Didn't see too much of the Hoyas this year - mainly the replays, but what I saw gives me optimism for next year. We have two solid players in BB and Jeff (both having some spectacular highlights) and some very decent role players. Add to that mix the freshmen coming in and we could make a lot of noise next year. Especially with a year under their belts of the JTIII system.

I dfntly can wait till next year and even the kenner to see how these freshmen play....
i think 2 of the key players to also examine in the offseason will be SEAD and Cornelio (possibly AKD as well)....we need one of these guys to step up their game and provide 10-15 minutes off the bench if we want to compete for a bid.....With 2 years under his belt im hoping it will be sead's opportunity to show what he can do...
also, ive heard in the past that egerson has had trouble with grades....Anyone know if he is qualified to play for us next year?

I know that academics was the main reason he headed to Philly Lutheran for a prep year, so I'm assuming (hoping?) that he's now got them in order...
