Yea, I dont want to turn this into a SC-Clemson page either. Very true that USC plays a weak non-conference tilt as seen in Niagara, Longwood etc. We'll see in the very near future if they deserve their #4 ranking. This weekend was a very good start. Back to the Hoyas though. I was thinking a game against a Philadelphia team would be okay too. I could travel to that easily and would be interesting against St. Joe's or Temple. How far is Philly from Baltimore/DC? (I think the weak non-conf. schedule in baseball is the wave of the future for teams that want to go to the CWS from the ACC or SEC.)

It's only about 2 hours or so, not too bad.
Does the baseball selection process for the NCAA's weigh SOS less?

Most of the non-conference games are early season and depending on how you schedule tournaments and series (i.e. playing a 1 or 2 game set midweek instead of a 3 game weekend series) it isn't weighted as much simply by the number of conference games. That many 3 game series in the ACC and SEC against so many ranked teams plus a good showing in the conference tourney get the good teams in. There's no need to kill yourself playing 3 games series with highly ranked teams in February.

Two more names that we have to throw around for a possiblity are VCU and Virginia Tech. I'd rather not ever go back to blacksburg so I'm hoping for a more local team or philly team. When they make the Hokie Turkey call at games everyone in Blacksburg moans and has an orgasm. It's quite funny.
Our mascot doesn't make a lot of sense but still why name a team after a castrated turkey?

That would make sense then. First couple of weeks of the season could be used to get pitchers in gear and make determinations about who to use in what situations. It would almost be stupid to not have a weak non-conference schedule.

Of course they'll swear to you that the castrated turkey thing is an urban legend.

Enough with the freaking Clemson talk. Unless they play the Hoyas, I couldn't care less about that school. Don't they have their own boards?

Thanks for a ruining a heartfelt emotional day when two GU fans on this board discovered they were fans of two rivals in the same state. You've crushed my will to live now.

It's okay Tiger. I'll back you on this one(though most likely not too much else, lol.) I was being sarcastic with my last post - we were getting a little long on it with the baseball stuff that's why I said I wasn't going to talk about that anymore and send you a private message about some other college baseball scheduling issues. If guru was making his post because of my response to the list of other possible opponents as easy wins then he can get over himself since that was related to possible GU opponents in the first round. Just don't ask any other Gamecocks about the Kevin Braswell shot at the Carolina Coliseum when you get to Columbia.

Understandable....
I actually remember that game, I wasn't involved with SC then, but I do remember it.

Understandable.... I actually remember that game, I wasn't involved with SC then, but I do remember it. I was at the game pretty close to courtside across from the bench. A friend of mine in the legislature got me some tickets through the president's office at SC (I had to pay face because they don't give them away to them anymore because of ethics laws.) I showed up at the admin building to pick them up in my Georgetown shirt and hat. I didn't see any other GU fans sitting in the part of the lower bowl I was in but after going to that place for other games I remember the nosebeleeds visitors/walkups got stuck in. The Colonial Center looks to be a lot nicer from the pictures (I haven't been inside yet.)

I just saw a post on another board that claims the NIT committee sets it up to try to weed out ACC (and other teams not from the Northeast) to try to ensure a sellout for the semis and finals.
Gotta love conspiracy theories....

When it's full its a great atmosphere. I would have to consider going down there if the Hoyas end up playing them at some point in the NIT.

If that happens, let me know because I'll most likely be there too (unless it's the week before Easter.)

I'm just hoping the Hoyas stay on the east coast for all of their games.
