Monroe didn't score much tonight (4 points on 2-9), but he did collect 11 rebounds (6 offensive) and added 6 assists in a loss.

So proud of Roy tonight..wow what a performance...Playing with a broken nose he made the big shots and assists to lead Indiana over the Lakers at LA. 18 and 8 doesn't tell the story....played awesome +18 with him on the court tonight.

Props to Roy getting ESPN.com front page. I think this performance may get him the all-star nod. I know everyone in the League was watching that game. He said that they told him not to play with the broken nose but he wanted to win this game so they would have a 2-1 road trip. He dominated Bynum in the 4th. Every play just about from 8mins on was an iso on the block for Roy, he had 8pts and 3 assists in that span.

It has been said a million times but it's unbelievable how good a player Roy has become. Most importantly, he plays winning basketball by being efficient and team oriented. He absolutely deserves an all star nod backing up Dwight Howard.
Greg Monroe is nipping at his heels though as one of the best young centers in the league. Greg has work to do on defense, but offensively he has become very dangerous and like Roy very efficient. Playing post for JT3, you WILL learn how to pass the ball out of the double team.

First off, Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles is awesome! When Biggie sang that he frequently flossed hos at Roscoe's in the ode to the state so great that even the consummate New Yorker had to acknowledge its superiority in Going Back to Cali, you know that this dive diner in the ghetto of L.A. is awesome. Fried Chicken and Waffles with tons of butter (that's the key)...amazing. And this both makes Roy that much cooler for knowing about it and going to it and proves the awesomeness of Roscoe's that Roy would go there when visiting from Indiana and having all of L.A.'s grandness at his disposal. Roy keeps proving why he is the most lovable 7'2" man on the planet.
Second, I love that Roy's game elevates when he plays other true centers and 7-footers, when so many others shrink. He's like the anti-Brook Lopez, who has made a name against the PFs masquerading as Cs, while getting dominated by the Roys & Dwights of the world. Roy seems to play his best against Dwight & Bynum & Lopez & Yao when he was around. I can't remember his matchups against Bogut, but I feel like he was legit in them, cuz big Roy is pure and simply legit now. He's making it seem ridiculous that he lasted to #17 in the draft. And I agree that I'd love to see him as the back-up All-Star Center, though I fear it won't happen. O'Brien has got to play him closer to 35 minutes every night, not the 29 he's averaging.

Darn it. How can I blame everything bad with the Pacers on JOB when he's not the coach any more? I will have to now try shrimp & grits.

Gourmet Soul Food has been the rage in the Bay Area for a few years now, and I can conclusively agree with kc: Shrimp & Grits are awesome.
(And the best fried chicken I've ever had is in Oakland - Pican, if you're ever in the area. Of course, it's the Bay Area so be sure to get it with the Honey Truffle Sauce.)

So looking forward to watching this Orlando/Indiana game. I wanna see if Roy can take that game he had versus the Lakers and have one against Howard, but more importantly stay out of foul trouble.

He needs to expand his game beyond the hook shot and the faceup jumper. The former is especially a great weapon but it can be taken a way for much of a game if the defense is committed to doing so and if that same defense knows you'll go back to it again and again. He needs to develop a turnaround jumper, especially on the baseline. He must also learn how to use the glass and he has to add a dropstep and a spin/pivot move that would allow him to attack the basket and maybe send him to the FT line if he misses the shot (right now he goes to the FT line as much as I do....and I don't even play).

Agree about the turnaround MCI. Right now he just picked up his 2nd cause the pacers don't box ever,lol... but nice start with 10points in the 1st. Both he and Howard both have 2 fouls.

Dang, our Hoya big men keep filling it up in the box scores. Roy, along with Danny Granger, led his team to a victory on the road against division-leading Chicago. He finished with 20 and 8.
Greg and the Pistons battled the Heat to the wire but came up short. In a losing effort, Greg finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
It is a completely defensible position to state that Roy and Greg are the 2nd and 3rd best centers in the Eastern Conference. I think the tide is turning toward Roy as a back-up to Dwight on this year's All-Star team. We will see.
Keep it up Hoya bigs!

The All-Star team doesn't have to take pure centers...they may have to beat out Chris Bosh, Andrea Bargnani, and Amare Stoudamire. But Roy I think has pulled a lot closer to Bogut this year.

Actually, both East and West teams have to designate a backup center. Someone listed specifically as a center on the ballot. The only time they don't is in the case of an injury replacement. Hence why Jamal Magloire made the game averaging 10 points and 9 rebounds years ago. Chris Bosh is listed as a forward. Andrea Bargnani is not making anyone's all star team and Amare is having a very forgettable season. Doubt he'll make it. Roy probably makes this game by default.

Bogut broke his ankle Wednesday night. I assume he's done for the year.
