Greg Monroe shows his character as Helen Cox School retires his jerseyQUOTE"Besides being a great basketball player, he was an outstanding student, outstanding person -- just an all-around great kid," said Monroe's high school coach, Tyron Mouzon, who also is the dean of students at Cox. "He really established a legacy here and established Helen Cox's name recognition throughout the state and throughout the country during his playing days here... Nice article. Thanks for the link. But the city will love Greg Monroe. He is all work and no show, all team and no me. He isn't worried about being a good-luck charm at the lottery ("the balls are going to fall how they fall") but is worried about something bigger: getting his degree in theology from Georgetown after leaving as a sophomore. He will take classes there this summer.

True. But Greg Monroe should play it extremely well for a long, long time.

Good for Jeff if it happens. I think that Garnett will rev up Jeff's motor with a couple of years of mentoring, and that Jeff will become more comfortable and less deferential as time goes on.

Past the point that Jeff needs to be mentored--he needs to lock himself in the gym and work on his game--he has no mid range game and substandard handle for a combo forward. A lot easier to try and calm someone down then try to rev them up. Boston would be silly to offer an extension prior to seeing how he plays. Pick up option, watch him play and if they get more of same from him, they avoid wasting money. If he plays well, you can extend him during season.

Can we just have a macro or script that will automatically post the same thing from RDF every single time that someone talks about Jeff Green. It would save RDF a lot of time.

Sure--when we get one when Dan defends any/everything the Celtics do even when it's a complete disaster. Liking people/former Hoyas doesn't make something better.

RDF, you are right about liking Hoyas doesn't make them better, but OKC's complete inability to generate an offense if Durant/Westbrook don't go superhuman shows that maybe the value of Green/Krstic was underrated on that team. They replaced two solid offensive players with two poor offensive players including a rock with teeth but no bite -- Perkins might be the most overrated player in the game (I always laughed at him and Eddie House growling from the bench for the Celtics last year like they were Pierce & Garnett). Ibaka might develop a decent offensive game, but I would not be too pleased that Perkins already was extended if I was an OKC fan. Sidenote: Harden needs to get in the starting lineup if they want any offense.
Reggie Miller said it on the telecast yesterday of the Bulls/Heat (I'm paraphrasing): "Excellent defense is very important, but great offense will defeat it. This is a shotmaking league and the more shotmakers you have, the better you'll do." He was describing why Miami's Big Two and a Half have the advantage over DRose and the Hustlers. It could also describe the Mavs advantage over the Thunder this series. Green and Krstic presented two more players that the defense at least had to stay home on, instead of being able to leave 3 players wide open to go guard Durant/Westbrook. I think this is also at the heart of why Westbrook feels like he has to be Superman in this series. Hope that Jeff can figure it all out next year in Boston and live up to Danny Ainge's trust in him.

Anyone else think that this series would have been different if Jeff was out there instead of Perkins? Obviously its all speculation but I think he could have corralled Dirk a little better then anyone else has.

I for one think that OKC would have been better served with Jeff against Dallas. The problem is, they would have never gotten past Memphis without Perkins.

Nobody can guard Dirk--guy is one of the top players in league. Trades aren't 1 for 1 deals, they are what is best for your team--OKC's trade allowed Ibaka to move to PF where he's flourished and Collison can play varied roles depending on matchups. Harden's gotten more playing time/shots and team has improved. If you want to take away that trade, here's another argument, does OKC finish with 4 spot in West? If not, do they beat Denver or Dallas in 1st Round with Jeff and having to play on road? Last time I checked, OKC blew a 15 pt lead with 5 minutes left or they are 2-2 in WCF. Not like they have been blown out every game.
Bulls tried to get a SG to help Rose out, but nothing was favorable. When they were offered Anthony, Nuggets asked for Noah, Deng, Asik, and filler, you can't give that up and not with a team that values defense.
Shot making is always important in basketball. Great offense beats great defense but how many great offensive players are there? What Lebron/Wade offer other then ability to make tough shots against great defense, they make game easier for guys who are average and need space. Rose really needs Korver to hit some shots because late in games, that is lineup Bulls like to use--pick and roll with Rose/Korver so you can't stay with him, but Korver's struggled all postseason, and teams have given him shots.
With OKC/Chicago, they are young teams who are going to be contending for years. They have chance to review and improve roster. This is how NBA operates in most cases, very rare for young players to come in immediately and win. Derrick Rose would've been a SR at Memphis this year. Durant would've been a Rookie this year if he stayed. That is a nice building block to have young stars who already have proven they can carry a franchise, now they just need to take next step. Both have won more Playoff Series then "franchise guys" Garnett, McGrady, Grant Hill, won combined prior to moving on and only KG has won consistently--Hill/McGrady have a combined 2 Postseason Series wins in their careers. It's important to win early before the next step can be taken as a franchise player. If you can't do it--means you are overpaying for a role player and will need to find a new franchise player.
Both teams have role players in place, and need 1 more thing--in OKC, starting to think it could be a new HC. Bulls need a SG.

Sure--when we get one when Dan defends any/everything the Celtics do even when it's a complete disaster. Hyperbolize much? As we have discussed (offline even), I am not particularly a Celtics fan. I'm not really even much of a NBA fan because the game has never really appealed to me. However, as someone who lives in Boston and who happened to hear a tidbit on the radio on my drive to work this morning that they were unlikely to replay on the radio in the Midwest AND that happened to be about a former Hoya who plays in the NBA (shazaam, that's on topic for this thread!) I thought I'd relate it. So shoot me.
