Was driving home to Ct yesterday through the Eastern Shore and JT came on the air with his monologue on his radio show. Apparently Ms. Michaels has just undergone brain surgery for what i took to be cancer. The target of the JT tirade was upon certain current and or former players who had shown little if any encouragement to Lori during this initial process. Mods feel free to move just hoping to see if anyone can provide any insight into her condition and prognosis.

Seeing as she is as important to our program as anyone has been since the 70s, I think we should be able to spell her name correctly by now. It is Lorry Michel.
I can neither confirm nor deny anything regarding her condition, but I do know that we should all keep her in prayer.

Thanks for sharing this. I was wondering as to her health, after seeing her head wrapped Saturday at Kenner League.
She certainly will be in my prayers.

Just went and checked the audio thinking sleepy must have taken it out of context because I can't imagine our former players being oblivious to Lorry who along with Rich, I think we can call the longest serving members of the Hoya Basketball team. But Big John does indeed call out players who "have received tender care" from Lorry over the years who he feels are still "riding on that ego trip" from being professional basketball players that they don't do the little things like simply asking how she's doing.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Lorry- the number of people she has helped is immeasurable- I can still remember her wonderful bedside manner when I sprained my ankle as a 10 year old at Georgetown basketball camp in the early 90's.

My prayers are going out to Lori, she has taken care of me every year at the Georgetown Basketball School. She even went as far to very caringly tell me to sit down for the rest of the week, but I could not do it, I went on and coached for the rest of the week. Ms. Michel's has been like an angel over all of us. She always acknowledges me when I'm on the Hilltop.

A long, courageous battle indeed. Just thought I’d throw this vignette into the memory mix: when they had a dinner in McDonough to celebrate the groundbreaking for what became the Thompson Center, Iverson was there (and at the groundbreaking itself earlier in the day) and escorted Lorry up and down the podium stairs so she could speak without fear of falling, such was his admiration for her. His career wasn’t that long over at that point and he was (reportedly) dealing with his own issues and bad publicity yet he appeared, which says a lot about her (and him). Alonzo also in attendance…
