St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bladensburg has become the first Episcopal parish in the US to convert to Roman Catholicism under the Vatican's 2009 open door to disaffected Anglican/Episcopalian parishes worldwide. As part of the deal, the parish will be allowed to maintain Anglo-Catholic traditions and its married priest retains the pastorship. (Even as a somewhat conservative Catholic, I don't have a problem with this--our parish had for 18 years a married priest who himself was an Episcopal convert. As has been said before, the converted often have a stronger faith than some cradle-to-grave Catholics.) Good luck to the new St. Luke's parish as they move into this next phase of its history. www.washingtonpost.com/local/episcopal-church-in-bladensburg-to-convert-to-roman-catholic-parish/2011/06/06/AGLsiIKH_story.html
