Courtesy of the Politico Playbook daily email:
"--JOBS REPORT, 8:30 a.m. -- Ben White's "Morning Money" has a cheat sheet: "All signs suggest the jobs number will come in soft, perhaps 150,000 or less, following last month's strong 244,000 gain. There are some technical reasons for the smaller number but they don't really matter to the big picture, which is clearly of an economy struggling to get out of first gear. ... Jobs Day Viewer Guide: 200K PLUS - Massive win for Obama ... 150K-200K - Pretty decent number indicating while gas prices, Japan and some technical factors took a bite, the economy remains basically on track. ... 100-150K - Weak number makes Obama's case tougher in Ohio and more reliant on the argument that things could be worse ... 0-100K - Disaster. Markets could tank ... (though losses could be mitigated by hope of more Fed easing).""
54,000 created. This ain't good.

9.1% unemployment.
So no one will think I'm piling on the Democrats, I actually believe the employment/unemployment picture in the short-run has little to do with current or any economic policy. We place too much credit and too much blame on the president and congress re the economy. Because of this the current numbers will probably have some political effect.
