This won't be too long, but here goes:
1 - We won, 70-64
2 - The roster was Bowman, Reed, Hibbert, Green, Townes (weird) and Kenny Hasbrook (?)
3 - Refs were iffy, sometimes calling it close, sometimes not. The Symonds' mothers were all over them.
4 - Very little perimter play until later in the game, very sloppy passing.
Player evals:
Bowman - started slow and wild, but ended up making some very nice drives and a few threes (20 or so pts I figure)
Reed - Bad. Lots of turnovers, wild drives, poor FG%. Decent D going for steals.
Hasbrook - barely sot (once?) a nice pass or two. Dunno who he is, 6'2" or so
Green - very smooth. Hit an early 3, had a NASTY alley-oop, decent boarding (12-14 pts?). Some very nice passes on the break.
Hibbert - well, he's tall. Lots of boards, lots of FTs (at least 12, made maybe 7) Only made 1 or 2 FGs that I can remember. Looks very awkward when he runs.
Townes - some decent moves and boarding, a block or two. Wider than I imagined.
What I took from this: Green will be a good player. How good, who knows. But he has solid touch, seems smart and is a great athlete.
Hibbert, I dunno. Tall, decent coordination, but I need to see more.
Giubunda and Crawford were MIA. Ross was there (said he hadn't played in a while when asked), as was Cook and Owens.
I'll try to answer any Qs.

Play of the night: in the Myers & Alterman 118-90 victory over Slam, HUGE ALLEY-OOP to G'Town's own Darrel Owens over some poor sap with rec-specs. Crowd went nuts.
Good to see two of the most revered figures in G'Town hoops in attendance: JT and Fr. McFadden. Also, Ashanti Cook was watching from the stands between two fine ladies.
I for one thought Reed showed a pretty good handle and could be a legit option running the point at times for us this year. Decent ball handling while on a full sprint, broke some presses. A few too many turnovers, but I chalk some of them up to fatigue (Tombs only had 6 players) and the fact that most of the guys clearly looked like they were playing at a summer league level.
Big surprise - Green's overall play. Had a good handle, a much better jumper than I thought, and was 4-4 from the stripe. PLayed with good intensity, CLEARLY has great hops. More of the body of a 3, but plays like a beast inside going after loose balls and rebounds. He wasn't used much on the offensive end as the team really tried to establish Hibbert...
...who is REALLY rough. Very slow coming up and down the court, not sure if that is injury lingering, lack of conditioning (it IS early for these HS guys), or what. Looked like a young RBB on the offensive end, did decent on the D-end. Footwork needs a lot of work and he had is back turned to a lot of plays. Had some awful layups that drew no rim. But both he and Green played with a lot of energy, which was nice to see.
As for Ross and Owens, they played against each other, Ross and Amadou (who played with a lot of energy and had a bit of a presence on the D-end) versus Sead and Darrell (on M&A). Owens and Ross both looked pretty good, Ross running the point for Slam for a while, and doing pretty well. Best player in the first game was CLEARLY GMU junior PG Tony Skinn...flying all over, great handle, lots of assists a few dunks and layups, hit some nice 3's. Oh yeah...Guibunda and Crawford were there, in street clothes.
In all, a decent showing. Clear that they haven't had much time together, while other teams seem to have been practicing a lot. After seeing Darian Townes tonight, I would LOVE to have him on the team: lots of intensity, running up and down, good post play, physical inside.
Didn't stay for the DC Assault game. It was just after 9 when Tombs ended and I hadn't eaten since noon...so it was off to Cheesesteak.
Any questions?

So Ross and Amadou are on Slam? I missed the early game. How did Sead look?

I was there too and concur with the evaluation. Jeff is silky smooth in his game but foul-prone underneath--he does attack the glass well (although I only saw the first quarter and a half of the 2nd; I had the misfortune of sitting amidst the Symonds' mothers who believed that since JT2 was in the gym, the Symonds team would get no calls whatsoever and didn't hesitate to vocalize that belief). Roy will provide interior presence and rebounds but it is nerve-wracking to see him get the ball on the lower blocks. He needs conditioning and work on the offensive post-game. But he brings good spirit and intensity to the game a la Jeff. Wouldn't hurt to see Jeff hit the weight room too; you can definitely see the difference with Brandon....
DJ played well in the first game for Myers & Alterman (threw down a nasty alley-oop at the end); I was impressed with their PG from GMU. Ross played also for Slam as did Diaw. Sead was on the Slam roster but ended up playing for M&A instead!! I didn't see Cook but was glad to hear he was around. No sign of Causey. The Darian Townes thing was interesting (especially since he's playing for the Tombs) but the announcers pointedly stated Arkansas after his name every time he made a play and, given the fraternal relationship between coaches, any rumors of a DT transfer should be immediately quashed.
Other items of note: JT3 appeared between games, talked to Jeff for a while. Jeff also went over to DJ and the two of them pointedly exchanged banter and seemed to enjoy each other's company; seems DJ, like BB, is happy with the state of affairs. Lori Michel sat next to JT2 so I guess she's still at GU. Chvotkin showed up to watch for a while.
Typical KL; lots of 3s jacked up, very little d and very sloppy. I would hope the Tombs can work up a semblance of an offensive set as the KL wears on during the summer....I hope to see Tombs tomorrow as well......WBH

I'm with WBH...typical summer league game. Its like an organized playground game or something. Sead played VERY little, and note WBH's roster updates. Interesting point, though, Sead came out of the locker room a few minutes into the first game then turned around and went back for something...THEN came out with the M&A jersey, so I'm wondering if the teams help each other out and balance each other's rosters...but then again Symonds A-S didn't "lend" anyone to Tombs, who was WOEFULLY undermanned...the freshmen were CLEARLY tired by the 3rd quarter (they play 11 minute quarters).

Yeah, I second SirSaxa's sentiment, that's some first class recapping work you're all doing. It's a lot tougher I bet with having to watch multiple games (and not incredibly organized ones at that), and then have to keep track of our players on multiple teams. Plus sometimes, apparently in the case of Dizzy, they go back into their phone booth in the bowels of McDonough and emerge in a different team's uni.
We'll be looking forward to the recaps all summer, I wish I was there!!

Unless I am too tired after work, I'm going to attempt to log points and rebounds for our guys tomorrow (the important ones, at least). Maybe FGs made and attempted if I am really ambitious.
