Just proves that the laziness of the poll voters sometimes works both ways. There's no way this team should be ranked in the top 25 after the last 2 weeks.

Apparently the coaches didn't see the scoreboard this week . . . .

No way this team deserves to be ranked in the top 25...but I'll take it.

I am actually disappointed. This team is not playing like a Top 25 team and should not be given the distinction of being ranked. I wanted us playing Pitt with a chip on our shoulder from falling out of the rankings. So much for that hope.

This just confirms that there is a long lag time between performance on the court and performance in the polls. Up and down. Proves the subjectivity of the whole process. For tournament selection maybe relaince on things like RPI is better.
Regardless, I am happy to still be ranked.

Well, the committee doesn't solely rely on the RPI, but it does factor in somewhat. As badly as we've played in recent games, we're probably still a 5 or 6 seed at the moment. I thought the rankings were pretty generous, but you also have to factor in the fact that several other teams near us in the rankings also lost (see: UCF, Kansas St., Michigan St., Kentucky). That probably helped us marginally.

Clearly the team is underachieving lately, but it doesn't help that they have the toughest schedule. In fact, the 4 losses are to teams ranked in the top 25 of the RPI.
ND (9) St. John's (12) W. Va. (15) Temple (21)
It is time to get our first Top 25 RPI W. Beat Pitt.

Come on people name 25 teams that have a better resume than us right now.

Come on people name 25 teams that have a better resume than us right now. They might not have a better resume, but there's probably a 12 and under rec team playing somewhere in DC that could give us a run for our money in a head-to-head game.

Come on people name 25 teams that have a better resume than us right now. Fine, in terms of overall body of work. Not so much in terms of recent body of work. I guess it depends on how you assess teams for polling purposes: is it everything they've done, or basically just what they've done lately?

Obviously the polls are unscientific. I've always viewed their purpose to be to capture who is playing the best at a given moment. Which team is the best team right now. Obviously they are far from perfect, in part because not everyone sees their purpose as the same. HSB may be right in that we have had one of the 25 best seasons to date (and the tournament committee is supposed to look at season long achievement) but I have a hard time believing we're one of the 25 best teams today, which is what I think the polls are supposed to reflect.

Confidence. This team just completely stopped shooting 3s and when they do, they are way off. III say directly to the team, order them: make your shots.

Would rather have us drop off the "others receiving votes" list so we would play angry. This team is too passive, and this is a gift of a ranking.

Our resume is that we've beaten a bunch of average teams plus Missouri, and lost 4 games to some pretty good teams. The verdict is still out. This year, there are few great teams in college hoops. The most important thing is to be playing well in February and March (as usual), when seedings for tournaments are really finalized.
