If you cant defensive rebound every year you are soft. Bronxie plays ball...the only thing that will start fights (verbal and otherwise) between teammates is not defensive rebounding. You cant guard someone...... cool, switch......but defensive rebounding is akin to a running game in football. Running at your opponent is all about manhood and will. Bronxie....gunning too ;D. Teammates will tolerate gunning as long as you are hitting or as long as the team is winning. Too much gunning on a losing team will cause arguments............

Bronxie - we outrebounded STJ - and Depaul - and Memphis, Missouri, Temple. ND outrebounded us by 2. Does the rebounding angle play as well this year as in the past? If someone would like to suggest that we have not had MAJOR problems protecting our defensive backboard these last 4 years then you must be joking. We get pounded on the boards (vs viable foils) and what is worse we can never get a board in a crucial situation. Now someone debate Bronxie on that point.

i don't think we are soft.
i just don't think we are as talented as some folks may have hoped, and because the team loses, we mistakenly feel the guys aren't trying hard or they haven't showed up.
they guys are doing the best they can.
i hear what folks are saying, but given JTIII's tenure, i don't recall one player that has rode the pine for an extensive amount of time and then come off the bench and made JTIII look like a dummy for not playing the kid or not playing him enough.
I don't think III is stubborn as much as he is hamstrung about what he can do in using other players that are limited in what they can do. If a guy is seeing limited minutes, then he is pretty much limited in what he can provide to help us win.
Basically, this team's success is riding on Wright, Freeman, and Clark.
Which really makes me wonder what this team will look like next year without Wright and Freeman and our only big man with some offensive game, Vaughn. Who will score for us and who will be our floor general?

It is bigger than this year. This is 4 years in the making.

[/hides] No it is a function of coaching and recruiting. The kids he recruits are not athletic or aggressive. JTIII is mild mannered fellow. His teams take on his personality. A lot of passive kids on our team. Kids that can vanish for long stretches because they do not have that get on my back mentality.

We are a jump shooting team that is in a shooting slump.

Uh, that's because he rode the pine, and never got to come off the bench. Tyler and Vee are the two that obviously come to mind. But who knows...maybe Tay had game. (OK, OK, probably a long shot.)

We are a jump shooting team that is in a shooting slump. I have no problem with losing at ND. I just did not like losing to St Johns especially the way we lost. What I really hate is not being able to get a key defensive rebound when you need it. That bothers the hell out of me because I just feel that is a function of toughness. I have said it before years ago (after we lost to Tennessee) Thompson needs to study under Izzo for a summer as far as rebounding drills go. I saw Izzo do something exciting and innovative and JT3 could learn from it.

Any good team (De Paul and St Johns too) we have played has given us trouble on the O-Boards.

Is he competing against Bronxie who is 6 inches shorter than Lubes and 15 years his senior or is he competing against his age and size cohort? The ignorance of such a statement is unreal. Now let Bronxito compete with you for a board and lets see what happens.
