Heck yes it is a problem. Do you have eyes? Did you watch the games? Any good team (De Paul and St Johns too) we have played has given us trouble on the O-Boards. How long have you been posting here? How can you not know that FrazierFanatic does not, in fact, have eyes? Did you not attend any of our fundraisers? Way to step right into a pile of awkward, bronxie. Missed the fundraisers and if he does not have eyes Bronxie apologies a million times. ;D

You didn't address my question. Is it as much of a problem this season given the numbers? Heck yes it is a problem. Do you have eyes? Did you watch the games? Any good team (De Paul and St Johns too) we have played has given us trouble on the O-Boards. Gosh yes I do have eyes. They saw us outrebound SJU on the defensive baord more than 2 to 1, which is respectable at any level. We are a better rebounding team this year than we were the last couple of years, even thought there is certainly significant room for more improvement. If you can't recognize that, then it seems your eyesight is clouded by your agenda. And by the fact that as a team dominated by the Big 3, there is only so much we can do underneath. But Julian, Nate, Jerrelle, and even Hollis and Henry, are banging the boards harder than we did last season.

Sans looking at a boxscore are you telling Bronxie that we had more offensive boards than they did? More defensive rebounds.... in the words of Derrick Coleman....whoopty damn do.....do you really want Bronxie to destroy that lying stat?

I was wondering what was keeping this thread going into the 8th page. That it's a discussion of whether or not Bronx can rebound over Nate Lubick is not surprising in the least.

I'm sorry bronxie, we did a lot of bad things that game on the defensive side of the ball. And yeah we lost it on an offensive rebound we gave up. But to say we lost the SJU game because we gave up too many offensive rebounds??? No, we lost it because for the third game in a row we couldn't execute offensively and for the 15th game in a row, we weren't that good of a defensive team. I'm concerned about several things about our basketball team...giving up too many offensive rebounds has only struck me as a problem in the first half of the Memphis game. To be frank, I think this is an issue of you seeing a handful of particularly important offensive rebounds we gave up, and fixating on them. It's like those that saw that ball that Vee and Henry fought over in the ND game that led to a Nash layup and were convinced that was indicative of bad rebounding. I'd be with you on a lot of other you pointed out...but we didn't lose that game on the glass. In fact, we almost won it on the offensive glass in my opinion. If it wasn't for our work on the offensive glass in the second half, we'd have been out of that game a long time earlier.

Its not just one thing its many things that when you add them up well you get what you get. They don't play every possesion as if its the most important. Classic example 1st half Our Star player bending over in front of the bench to get a loose ball . if it was important he dives for it goes and on the floor. He makes a half assed attempt at it and it goes out of bounds we loose possesion. This type of thing along with mental mistakes occur way to often with this group. and we all know the results.

Soft....small...turnover prone = NIT I don't know that we were so soft today - but we were stupid with the turnovers and horrible shots.

This game drove the point home how soft we are as a team. If it wasn't for Jason Clark, we may not have got any boards. There was one play in the second half where 4 Hoya surrounded a Mountainqueer and the eer' still got the offensive board.

Let me first say that I don't have a problem with JT3 coaching b/c he has done a good job here at Gtown, ever since he became the head coach. The main problem that I have is his and the other coachs recruiting. The players they are targeting and recruiting them to come to Gtown are not tough enough to play in the BEC.If they ever want to even think about competing in the BE then they have to go out and recruit bigger and better players. They have gone completely away from those type of players and I don't know why b/c those are the type of player we need to win the BE and the National Title.

Mike Dunlap is the offensive coordinator for the Johnnies Yep--and he's a damn good one. He uses the NBA approach (work on finding the mismatch and go at the opponent) which is a simple one but effective. Great point on the team/pressing. To me--this team is far more active/aggressive on defensive end when they press. Wright/Clark are better as "free safeties" then they are on the ball and the team just has more aggression. It sets a tempo and brings the urgency that for whatever reason III cannot get out of them in the halfcourt or overall. I've been severely disappointed with III's stubborn attitude towards ignoring what works, use of bench, and forcing things that don't work on players. Nobody in their right mind would watch this group play and say "Let's sit back, play man to man, and have Jason Clark get up on Dwight Hardy". III did. III played a lot of the guys, pressed, did a lot of things in non conference--he gets to conference play and does the same stupid crap that has this team floating under .500 the past 2 years. That is just stupidity. To do things that don't work is being stubborn but to keep doing them when you have seen doing it another way works for this particular group--well I've lost faith/hope in him as a coach. Coaches job is to put the group he has to work with in the best position to win games. That means some years you have to alter your style--and in college-if you want to do things a certain way-recruit to that system. I'm all for whatever you want to do--but I detest anyone who is so bullheaded and arrogant they force things that don't work when things that do work are out there for everyone to see. It's on Thompson--NOT THE PLAYERS. He needs to "Fix it". He needs to watch the damn tapes of games and ask himself what the hell he's doing--because he's failed the team--not the other way around. He talks of missed shots--well it's basketball-that will happen in any system/season--but the personnel decisions, playing time, style of defense that fits team, is all on him. If he refuses to do this--he deserves to lose games and get a lot more criticism. It starts/stops with him--and college coaches are some of the biggest control freaks on the planet--but the guys who win championships are not afraid to adapt to what they have/understand what they don't have. III's yet to prove that he gets it this year in Big East play and with numerous evidence that shows how this group is best suited to play. GET IT FIXED BUMP UNTIL THE COACH GETS IT FIXED or sadly enough--just "GETS IT".

I will never, for the life of me, understand the pathetic cowards that only show up when things go bad and post hate and drivel. It is truly pathetic. Not talking about the RDFs of the world, who give great analysis and show respect. I'm calling out the Horrible little people that never seem to show up when were in the BE finals or beating top teams, but have plenty to say about how smart and prescient they were when things go "south."
You disgust me. Fair weather fan doesn't do it justice, because I doubt you're actually fans. Just sad little boys who make yourselves feel like men by tearing down others.
There's a lot to say right now about the struggles that the coach and the players have to put together two solid halves of basketball. But this is not 2003, when we struggled to put on one half, or even win a competitive game. Let's stop talking like it is.

Come on hoyatables.... You don't think it takes true genius and prescience to make a statement and then wait however long it takes for it to occur and then harp on it like it's the only thing that matters or has ever mattered regardless of how ridiculously revisionist? Shame on you.
Seriously, the only thing more predictable than there being ups and downs within a season is the appearance of some of these posters when the downs inevitably occur. I think I want us to go undefeated more for these people to shut up than for the wins themselves. OK, that's hyperbole but not by much.
By the way, some of you are going to get a flat tire on your car this year. Mark my words. And it'll be the result of a lack of preparation and poor scouting of the very best tires. Add to that the general inability of all but run flat tires to continue to perform when they lacked the agility to avoid the nail/screw/general minutiae that you hit due to the tire's lack of committment to peak performance. Mark my words. I'll be back to remind you of it when it happens.
