DFW: Reading the Vault and it is outstanding. One question though, your reference to Austin Freeman as first recruit from DeMatha since 1970 and Donald Willis. I thought that Donald Willis and Vincent Fletcher both came from NYC and that last DeMatha recruit pre-JT was Mark Edwards.
Played golf with Morgan Wooten several years ago just after JTIII took over and asked him about Edwards. Response was that he seldom got a question about him (with all the other famous players he had coached) but that he was very proud of Mark and the writing he had accomplished

I thought that Donald Willis and Vincent Fletcher both came from NYC and that last DeMatha recruit pre-JT was Mark Edwards. Willis was a year behind Edwards at DeMatha. I re-checked the media guide from 70-71 and the two NYC newcomers that season were Vince Fletcher and Paul Robinson, both from DeWitt Clinton HS.

Finally got mine yesterday and it's phenomenal. Truly a must-have. If you haven't ordered yours yet, do it now. Seriously, open another browser window and point, click, ship it. You will absolutely NOT be sorry. DO IT! Thank you, thank you DFW. Between this and the Memphis beat-down, I can totally donate whatever other gifts I receive this year (barring any really sweet new electronic gadget that I just couldn't part with!). If you want gift giving done right, do it yourself and order it now!

Just received mine as an early Christmas present. This is more than a book or album, with all the ticket, sticker, button replicas, it feels like you are looking right into the richest archives of the University. Simply amazing. Easily one of the top 3 gifts I've ever received!

Are you serious? The book is absolutely amazing. I don't know of any other devoted to a team that matches it in terms of detail. It is quite simply a work of art and it provides a great history lesson to boot.
Fantastic job, DFW. What a gift you have provided to your beloved university, its basketball program and its fans.

You're beating Wooden!
And more importantly, beating the Syracuse vault!

Under my tree and I'm salivating to get at it! Might knock my kids out of the way to open it first and stay in the car at the in laws to read it cover to cover.

WOW!!! Got mine last night from the inlaws. With all the effusive praise on the board it would be hard to live up to expectations, but it blew me away.
Have y'all searched for your own name in it yet? Found myself on the 1987 basketball banquet program in the band listing. Found lic on it as well.
Again, congrats and many thanks to DFW!

The wifey surprised me with a copy of the Vault this morning. She apparently saw an ad for it on the Jumbo-tron at a home game and secretly got it for me. Was shocked to get it and had trouble paying attention to the kids for about 45 minutes while doing a "quick" first peruse.
Love the book. Thanks, DFW for all you've done for Hoya fans through the Chat Board and this terrific book. Love the way you incorporated old tickets, programs, schedules, etc. Brings back a lot of memories.
One quick question. Why no dedicated chapter to Daymond Jackson?
Merry merry everyone!

Mine flew in from the North Pole today. I spent some quality time with it today and love it. My wife came into the room and commented that I was grinning while I was reading it. So many memories. (It was the "Thank You Dikembe" sign that did it for me. I remember that game vividly from my sophomore year.)

Finally got the Vault yesterday as I had been forbidden from purchasing so that one of my Hoya children could get it for me for Christmas. The book is a tour de force that could only have been authored by DFW.
It was a joy to read and I learned far more than I would ever have imagined.
I never cease to be amazed at how one's life can be enriched by the passions of others.
Thank you John.
