What was Sanchez thinking? CNN's Sanchez fired after calling Stewart a bigotQuoteSanchez said that Stewart is bigoted toward "everybody else that's not like him." He said Stewart "can't relate to what I grew up with," saying his family had been poor and he had seen prejudice directed at his father.
Sanchez dismisses it when Dominick points out that Stewart, who is Jewish, is also a minority.
"I'm telling you that everyone who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority?" Sanchez said, adding a sarcastic "yeah." I missed this story over the weekend. I guess his brain momentarily stopped working. He must have forgotten Dr. Laura and Helen Thomas.

Rick Sanchez never really struck me as having a full complement of marbles. If anyone would like, I can translate my comments into English for Mr. Sanchez.

This is really disappointing - I was hoping for another chapter in the Pitino saga.

I remember watching Rick cover the Bubble Boy incident. It was high comedy...pun intended.

CNN deserves a lot of credit for dismissing Sanchez. Not all networks would do that.

CNN deserves a lot of credit for dismissing Sanchez. Not all networks would do that. I think the fact that no one ever watched his show (though everyone would tune into the YouTube clips of his imbecility) made it a bit of an easier decision for them. I don't necessarily agree with firing someone for saying stupid things, even vile things like this. A suspension, maybe, for a first offense? (If this is a first offense, I don't know.) I'm not saying he didn't deserve to be let go, or earn his firing, just that a second chance after a punishment/reprimand of some sort wouldn't be the worst alternative. You could say he wouldn't have any credibility coming back after that, but it's not like anyone trusts the news media anymore anyway. But, like I said, I don't think this was a difficult decision for them. Puppies in a fisheye lens would probably get them higher ratings.
