The Hoyas are getting some respect, now number 178, up almost 50 places, and in the 1-AA rankings, Hoyas received some well deserved recognition.
If the polls mean anything, there is little differential between GU and Yale. Is there another upset in the making?
Last week I picked the Hoyas to upset Lafayette, I believe the GU will prevail again.
See you in New Haven.

No, that poll is the real deal.
Yale is a no show, only Colgate and Holy Cross from the PL.

178 probably refers to the Sagarin ratings, which at this point are still closely tied to the original ratings from the start of the season (Bayesian, Sagarin calls it): www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt10.htmThe good news -- these two wins have moved the Hoyas from #236 in the preseason rating to #178 after week two. The bad news -- Sag's predictor rating pegs the Hoyas as an 11-point underdog at the Yale Bowl. The potential upside -- a third road win against a higher-ranked team could launch Georgetown into the 150's or better (among all college football teams, 20s or 30s among FCS teams), and actually get some national attention among FCS fans.

All good ...polls are nice and we have momentum ...but we need to win games ...The next 3 weeks are the heart of the schedule ....lets stay positive and one play at a time ..We have the talent , we've re-aligned the decision -making and now we just need to speed it up , toughen up and go for it !!! All the best this weekend ...forget the polls

Here's another poll to examine. It's the preseason patriot league poll:
1. Colgate (6 first-place votes) 46 2. Lafayette (2) 36 3. Lehigh (3) 35 4. Holy Cross (1) 34 5. Bucknell 17 6. Georgetown 12
As you can see 2,3,4 are pretty interchangeable as they're all 1 pt off.
We're sitting at 2-0 having defeated the 2 of the 3 middle teams. So we still have @ Colgate the league favorite next week, the 3rd middle team in Leigh at home and then the bottom dweller vs. bucknell. If we win next week we'll pretty much have the patriot league title in the bag and still have a chance even with a loss. I think if you told anyone preseason that Georgetown had a legit chance to win the patriot league and make the playoffs I think everyone would've said "Georgetown has a football team?"

At 179 in the Sagarin which incorporates FBS schools.
Colgate is at 173 - nearly indiscernable, though relational ratings with three games down are decidely weak.

If we win at colgate there's no reason we can't win the patriot league. In theory they're the best team we'll play ( although Leigh is higher ranked according to sagarin) and we get the last 2 patriot league games that count( no fordham) at home. They also clearly expected to be able to walk all over us because we're Colgate's homecoming game. Let's spoil it!
