Watching this video the one thing that struck me was how much you needed a keyboard to control it, and how that would be a huge problem. TiVo and generic DVRs do most of the TV recording stuff talked about here a whole lot better, they are just terrible for searching or for getting a massive list of movies that will be available in the next 14 days.
Apple TV, TiVo, and GoogleTV all have pluses and minuses but it's going to all come down to who balances huge content libraries and prices the best. If NetFlix streaming keeps improving their library by leaps and bounds, why would I need a Google TV? My Wii would do the job just as well.

It probably won't be a keyboard, but an Android phone...

TV and Internet in one? Does anyone remember the original, really clunky attempt to do this all the back in the 1990s (by Philips, IIRC)? I have a Wii that streams Netflix movies, a cable box, and a Mac with a wireless keyboard and mouse hooked up to my HDTV. I guess Google TV would let me consolidate these devices into one (more or less), but the question is: would I pay to do that? I still carry both an iPod and a cell phone in my pockets every day...

It's always interesting -- you can easily put your internet on your tv a number of ways now, and as Austin points out, has been possible for years.
And virtually no one does it. Will google be the one to pull an "Apple" -- who did it with the ipod -- and get the timing right?

So how do I browse the web, listen to music, and watch TV all at the same time...oh yeah, and talk on my phone? There's a reason the all in one unit hasn't made it big, just like there's a reason Austin carries his phone and iPod.
