St. John's game where they dressed 6 players and played 2 walkons and a 350 lb guy who couldn't get up and down the court. Yeah, I wouldn't call this the most embarrassing game in the history of the program. Just the most embarrassing in the history of the NCAAs. I don't think it has competition. If it were close, then you could maybe point to Davidson as competition but again, the refs played such an enormous role in that one. And it was close.

Temple and UMass were pretty bad NCAA losses.
(Though no one expected GU to win that Temple game, and the UMass game never happened according to the NCAA).

Lack of depth had nothing to do with this. THey had 4 and a half days to rest and prepare and they looked like crap. This was just another example of not playing every game with heart and intensity. This was a bad loss, one of the worst. We have to admit that. We were outplayed -- combination of us sucking and them playing out of their minds.

It was the worst loss ever, IMO. Sure, we've had some regular season duds, but that will go down as the worst loss in history, because honestly, no one will remember some random regular season games. We got obliterated by a 14 seed in the first round of the tourney.

Yes. Not close. Davidson is not one the ballpark - wasn't first round and half the country was picking them to win:

If anyone on the defensive end outside of Chris had played with any kind of intensity, didn't get beat by their man, or put a hand in the face of someone throwing up a three, they would not have won this game. We played offense, we didn't play defense. Play defense and we win this game.

this loss is way worse than Davidson. Davidson had s. Curry, and were a good team. Ohio hit a lot of open shots because we didn't play good D.

I can't remember anything even close since about 1982...... Losing a National Title game by 1 pt is "humiliating"? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) This takes cake for me as a fan-a Georgetown team not ready to play in an NCAA game and allowing 97 pts and wide open shots. Congrats to Ohio U--they DOMINATED FROM TIP and DESERVED THE WIN! Sorry--wasn't meaning that game was humiliating. I meant that I have been watching GU since 82 and have not seen a game this humiliating. Bad wording by me! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

That Davidson team had already beat Gonzaga in the first round and was one shot away from the Final Four and beating eventual champion Kansas. It was disappointing, for sure, but embarrassing? Not really.

So anyone think OU is the George Mason of this tournament? Would that make anyone feel better in the long run if that's the case?

This is the worst I can remember. Teams are gonna get upset, but it was that the team looked so ill prepared. And I don't care how many shots they hit, they were 7-9 in the MAC. Davidson was a good team that dominated their conference with a guy that was a top 10 NBA draft pick. Other losses may have hurt as badly because the end of the season always done, but as far as worst performances, this one stands alone.

its not humiliating when a better team beats you.
i'm still confused when we lose, the excuse is always "we didn't show up".
so, for 11 games this season we simply did not show up, and we were a better team than every team we played on our schedule?
"well we beat villanova and duke"
yeah, well, nova aint all that, and duke certainly isn't.
"well, we beat Syracuse in the big east tournament"
now that was a game, where the better team did not show up.
i'm sorry guys, but we aint that good, we are just okay.
we are soft, athletically average, and don't have a floor general to run the offense. our NBA lottery pick at Center's best skill is passing the basketball. that should tell you something.
teams like that get bounced in the first round.

The team that was better tonight won the game - NOT the better team. There's a big difference. That sounds like sour grapes, but it actually makes the loss much worse. This was a good Georgetown team with a lot of quality wins. As for the original point of this thread, yes, this is the worst and most embarrassing loss I can remember, and I've been following the team since Ewing's freshman year. This was one of the worst losses in NCAA Tourney history. Why is it that we always seem to make the NCAA Tourney highlight reels, for all the wrong reasons? It's painful. Me? I still blame that stupid "There are No Cinderellas" ad fro 2008. What BS
