if we defend and rebound even reasonably well, we'll blow this team out. we need to start strong. we've all watched a bunch of BET noon games where one team comes out flat and falls behind big early.

USF matched up well with us in February. They have size, experience, a dude who is practically unstoppable, and a real good coach. I would very much like to have this wrapped by the 7-8 minute mark, they know they can ride Dominique down the stretch, and will be confident in a close one. Of course, if it is still a game, we better have the option of Greg the whole way. I hope Coach doesn't disregard the ol' "Five fouls and you're out" rule like he did in Feb...

My biggest concern is how much this becomes the Dominique Jones Show. And, by that, I mean, the officiating. Jones has the makings of the break out star of this tourney, and is the type of player who can force getting the calls. Officiating will be big today, in my opinion. Especially when you consider we are playing a team that cant jump shoot for anything.

I was going to ask who the officials were - if we knew yet. How nice would it be if the officials weren't a part of any discussion after the game?
A tournament note - given the timing of the games....does it seem like officials call less fouls in tournament games?

Coach should alternate Clark and Vee on Jones, who didn't get to see Vee last time around. It will keep them fresh. They must follow him around real close and make him work for the ball and shot. The other four guys should pack the middle, which will make it extremely hard for Jones to penetrate at will, like last time around, and force him to hit the outside shot.

Is the game v USF on ESPN or ESPNU. I've seen it listed on both. BE site says ESPNU, ESPN site says ESPN. Need to set DVR to record... It was previously scheduled for ESPNU, but somehow switched to ESPN.

He is good, but he aint that good. Show him different looks and keep him from getting to the bucket. In fact Id shade off him and dare him to shoot the J. Ill live with it if he even shoots 40% on contested Js. But yesterday they won by driving the ball to the cup. They scored 50 points all on the interior and most were on drives, not post ups. Thus, make them shoot jumpers, rebound the basketball, and limit our turnovers and we should do fine.

I would like to see the Jason that ate up Jeremy Hazell, instead of the Jason that got eaten up by Jones in the first tilt. The kid is not going to be stopped and will make some really tough shots, but we have to keep him out of the lane and off the line as much as possible. And we need to force some turnovers.

I think that Clark and Vaughn are the keys to the entire postseason--starting today. If they can play agressively and stay out of foul trouble, the other three will carry the team. Hollis is also a key component. Vee and Benimon would be icing on the cakle with anything they contribute.

I would love to see any of those players step up & have a great game, but I think it's gonna be GM & AF who will carry us (again)! Go Hoyas!

The key in any game or season is get what you expect from your stars get meaningful contributions from your roll players.
given that - yes the key is AF and Monroe doing what they do; wright managing the game successfully; and clark, vaughn, hollis, vee, benimon providing the timely spark (be it defense, rebounding, put backs, 3s etc.)
I think it all boils down to...which team shows up. The team that was disinterested (rutgers, usf 2nd half) or the team that "wanted" it more...(cincy). And god help the rest of the big east if the team that was "clicking on all levels" (duke, nova 2nd time, uconn second half) shows up. That team is really special. T minus 13 mins

I am happy to have Doris Burke calling the game.
Would prefer Raftery, but I imagine he's still probably quite hungover.
