How Ya like Me Now!
I thought that Kia ad's music was perfect for this game.
Really showed that that game at home was a fluke and that this team is for real.
Ugh the Refs! Are you serious! Julian's last 3 fouls were all bull as were a couple of Greg's. Everytime Jones drove it was a foul, but chris did the same thing and nothing was called.
We had some problems early in the second half on the defensive end, but righted the ship. Overall though the defense was very solid.
Gotta give huge props for the job henry did when he had to come in. excellent job defensively and hit a freethrow. Didn't look lost at all and was helping direct traffic.
The bench has really matured. They still won't always give us a lot of points, but they know what to do now and can help. Had pretty good showing this game with hollis knocking down a 3 and jerrelle finishing a couple around the rim.
Our guards did a great job of goign after rebounds, 15 rebounds by our guards.
I thought Julian had a real good game that was cut short by awful reffing. his 3rd and 4th were especially terrible.
On to Cuse! Let's Kick some Cuse Ass!

So Jason Clark: you were 4-6 for three...too bad that doesn't tell the whole story. 3 of those 4 made were from NBA range, the 4th, half a step inside of the line!! And they were all beautiful perfect shots!! Lets get a NBA line on our home floor just so JClark can get a reference point for his range and spread those defenses out even more!

Just back from the game. Sounds like I wasn't the only one who found the officiating to be god-awful. The 2nd half was a whistlefest. My favorite was (what appeared to me) the phantom traveling call on Greg when he was STANDING STILL with the ball. Good thing USF can't shoot FTs, or it would've been a different story, especially with the multiple 3-point plays we kept giving them to start the 2nd half. Overall, I'm pleased, as I really wanted the team to beat them by at least 20 and preempt the Dominque Jones show.
Other observations: -the number of times in the 2nd half that USF had easy penetration under our basket, especially from along the baseline, and we had zero guys around there to defend, was crazy. -Chris Wright is not AI. Yes, he ultimately dropped in a lot for us, but I saw too much shoot first, set-up-the-offense-later action from him -why did we not drive on Dominique Jones more when he collected his 3rd foul early in the 2nd half? just asking. -I really couldn't tell how much of this victory was good D by us vs. really poor shooting by USF. -re: the point above- it was really funny to look at USF's individual stats on the jumbotron and see Jones with 21 and everyone else with 2 or 5 points -also re: above- we really could've stomped these guys even more if we weren't making stupid errant passes and poor shooting choices in the 1st half. I mean, was it me, or did Greg have virtually 0 1st-half points and spent a lot of time on the bench?
That's it- hope we really bring it tomorrow vs. 'Cuse. Revenge tour continues!
P.S. big props to nice guy Madgesdiq for hooking me up with Saturday night tix. Thank you!

Scheduling question. I seem to remember last year that a team that played the early game on Wednesday and won would play the evening games the next night and vice-versa, was that so? It would have given Hoyas a little more rest and would not have affected Cuse at all since they have not played a game.

That would be pretty unfair to teams winning the night session to ask them to come back so quickly the next day. Nice work out of Henry today.

Agree about Henry. The kid can contribute. He is high energy and he is very long--something Benimon will never be and he is fast--something Vaughn will never be. What he needs is a limited and carefully defined role whereby he spots starters for 2-3 minutes a half.

Although, i am not sure why they insist on doing 8-9 and 1-8 as the noon games. It's fine by me because the Garden is basically Syracuse's home court for the tourney, and i do think it wont have the energy it otherwise would for them tomorrow.

Greg definitely walked. He switched pivots and it was crystal clear. Henry also swatted a shot through the rim. Some tough calls but onto the next one.

I always assumed they scheduled it the way they do so to have the most competitive games in prime time.
i was also annoyed we didn't attack jones when he picked up his 3rd foul with a lot of time to go.
according to a voice tweet Julian threw up at the under 12 time out? not the best source, but I hope he's ok. Maybe he was just so disgusted with the referring.

NICE REVENGE WIN HOYAS!!!!! Things I liked: 1. Jason shooting from NBA range....and rockin' it. Do that all the time! 2. Chris elevating from half a step deeper on layups. Made more of them and he wasn't getting stuck under the basket. 3. Greg being a BEAST on both ends and playing hard, smart D with 4 fouls. 4. Collapsing on DoJo. Even though it resulted in a couple easy baskets, it also resulted in a few TO and missed baskets. Nice D. 5. 3pt D. That'll be good for our pomeroy numbers 6. Freeman hitting 'em late. Even though he stuggled early, he didn't give up. 7. Quality mins from Henry, Hollis, and Vee. 8. First time in a looooooong time I can remember seeing the end of the bench getting PT in a BET game. 9. The guys maintained their composure when USF went on that little run in the early 2nd half. GO HOYAS!!!!!

Some tough calls but onto the next one. those of us at BlackFinn were joking about how they totally missed the shot-block-through-the-rim but called that phantom push on Julian! were these the same guys that reffed the 6-man SHU game?

I also love seeing guys like Wale and Warren Sapp tweeting in favor of the hoyas! Some pictures of the Gtown crowd vis NY Life which has a tweeter covering the BET: twitpic.com/17r017ow.ly/i/GtKimg684.yfrog.com/i/xwe.jpg/Count me int he crowd that likes burke and doesn't understand why people don't like her. John Thompson III after USF victory: "Mentally, physically, emotionally I like where we are right now." JT3 on playing Cuse again: "We've got to make shots and guard our guys. Let’s not make it rocket science." JTIII on Wright's aggressiveness: "I thought he made the right reads. All of our guys can and will be aggressive." post game interview www.bigeast.org/newMediaPlayer/sl/console.htm?id=697025&type=vod&oemid=19400&KEY=AFree_15 That's 1 down 3 more to go

Doris Burke is insufferable. There. I said it. If, by "insufferable," you mean "better than 90% of all other color analysts," then I agree with you. I'm fine with Doris. From the little I could hear at lunch, she sounds like she likes GU.

can we take up a collection to get greg lasik? contacts are always coming out. There has to be an ophthalmologist at the GU Hospital that can sit at the end of the bench too.

Doris is not making the broadcasters' hall of fame any time soon, but she is better than some, worse than others. At least she is not a Syracuse sycophant like Pasch, McDonough, et al. How I would LOVE to hear McDonough have to announce tomorrow, Friday and Saturday nights without his beloved Orangeboys in the mix!

He would still talk about Syracuse. There would be 3 or 4 segments about Syracuse as a #1 seed in the NCAAs.
