Can we pin this? Hoyas Unlimited's fundraising auction started today at guhoyas.cstvauctions.com/gallery.cfmThere's over 100 things up for grabs including lunch with our very own lichoya! I just bid on a few things and hope everyone can do the same.

That is quite an auction they put together. I can't remember ever having so many items up for grabs. Kudos to the folks in Hoyas Unlimited. Hopefully they can push the word out to the community if they haven't already.

Did anyone win in the online portion last year? I bid on some things, and was unaware that there was a live portion -- I was high bidder before the live but nowhere close afterwords.
Which is fine, because I wouldn't have paid that much, but it wasn't really clear to me that I needed to be around for a certain time. Is that how it is going this year?

Last year was only semi-live. At the event, there were computer terminals so everyone could participate in the online auction, but there was no "live" auction. Everything was through the online service.

Interesting.
It's actually too bad for the school, because it seemed about 90% of the value came "live." I hope they get the same amount of bidding. I remember thinking there were some ridiculous deals (such as getting your kids to be ball boys for $100 this year so far) but none of them stayed that way.
Which is great for the school.

The one item I was going to seriously bid on mysteriously ended this afternoon. Ohh well, more money for my bank account.
I do agree that it's an impressive list they compiled. Kudos to the Hoyas Unlimited staff.

For the golfers out there, the game at National is well worth it whatever IT is. The natural beauty of the place alone will knock your socks off.

My '78 classmates and I bought this at last years auction. It was not cheap but is mostly deductible and goes to - obviously - a very good cause. Buddy Stuart, who donates the event, is a great guy and pretty much "The Most Interesting Man in the World."
