I mean ESPN has a lot to say with regard to scheduling right? Can't they set up rivalry week so all the big rivalries take place this week. Last year the cuse gtown game was during rivalry week. This year we get providence and rutgers. And despite what they'll try to say WV and Nova aren't rivals. I'm sure they hate each other since both fan bases are Editeds, but they're not rivals. WV vs. pitt which does get played later this week is a rivalry.
There are a whole lot of secondary or non rivalry games being played. Texas vs. KU, Duke vs. UNC, Pitt vs. WV, are there any other big #1 rivalry games this week?

Its been four years people, do NOT jump when Reynolds takes a three, he WILL jump into you.(I'm looking at you Chris Wright) It really amazes me that thats one of his go-to moves and it works atleast once a game. Although he probably attempts to do it on about every possession when he jumps in the air then passes out of it or turns it over, so really hes really not quite as effective at it as you would like to believe. But its still the most annoying move in the history of basketball.

Although I said I'm rooting for 'Nova, and I am, I got no small pleasure out of seeing Scottie try his fake/jump-into-contact play, only to be called for traveling.

This is going to sound stupid since we already discussed having the hardest Big East schedule earlier in the year, but it's incredible how little room for error we were given by the Big East schedule.
9 games against the current top half, 6 on the road. Two of the three at home versus #1 and #2 (also both top 5 teams nationally). Our "gift" is ND at home. Thanks a pantload.
We really need to win out this week and get to 7-1 versus the bottom half and then root for chaos in the middle of the pack.

Yeah we have to take care of business against the middle and lower teams because we've still got some tough games ahead against the top of the league. No more USF or Marquette games. Starting tonight, let's take care of our business.

I remember someone pointing out another team with a harder home and home set of 3 than us. But you are right, our schedule is absurd.

Pomeroy has us back to a 12-6 projected record after the win last night--meaning that in addition to handling ND, Cincy, and Rutgers his system doesn't think we'll manage to lose all three of the tough ones--even if our odds in any individual game are less than 50/50. I'd love to be sitting in a tie for 3rd place in the conference on Sunday night, so it'd be great if Pitt could pull it together and upset the 'Eers at Peterson on Friday. Pomeroy still projects the 'Eers for 13-5, but that would change with a Friday loss.
Given that Syracuse's chances of winning the Big East outright are better than even, I'd rather avoid even the 4 seed if possible so we wouldn't have to face them until the final (and what a final it would be). Then again, the 3 seed plays Thursday night, so you have roughly 5-6 fewer hours of rest between the quarters and semis.

How's the Better Team doing? I'm rooting against them because a fan of theirs came on here on New Year's Day and told us that the Hoya guards could not hold up and that the Better Team would finish ahead of Georgetown (thanks to an easier schedule). This has me worried and I desperately need them to lose if my beloved Hoyas are to squeak by and finish ahead of them.

Pomeroy's projections have Syracuse & Villanova 15-3, WVU 13-5, Georgetown 12-6, Pitt & Marquette 11-7, Louisville 10-8, USF 9-9, ND & Seton Hall 8-10, UConn & Cincy 7-11. kenpom.com/conf.php?c=BEIf other games follow the probabilities, then the #1 seed would come down to the Nova-Syracuse game and the #3 seed would come down to the Georgetown-WVU game.

What's nice is that we control our destiny for the 3-seed, which I think is big. I'd much rather play the presumable 6 from the ND, L'ville, MU group than Pitt.
So, I'm not rooting for anyone except us. We can play our way to where we need to be on our own.

I know we've been talking about how liekly cuse is to win the BE and that we want the 3 seed as a result. However, I really hope Nova can edge them out for the BE regular season crown. I mean I don't like nova either but i'd rather see them win than cuse.

Agreed about wanting 'Cuse to lose, but for seeding purposes it doesn't really matter. Chances are, we're going to have to beat them both in some order if we want to win BET.

I haven't watched enough Louisville to evaluate where they fall, but I'm always happy to play ND--they play by far the worst defense in the conference. Markedly worse than Providence even.

If this team plays well, there's no reason to worry about any of those teams. We are a lot better than all of them.

I'm mostly rooting for WVU losses. I think we can catch them for 3rd place.
