Every time he takes a shot now, I think it's going in. Every time he misses, I'm stunned. I can't remember the last time I thought that of a Hoya. Feel the same way. His stroke has been remarkable. I have never had as much confidence in a player making a shot for the Hoyas.

One other note of praise to throw on Awesome Freeman (which by the way is the coolest nickname anywhere, but maybe that's because I'm from California and really like the word Awesome):
Near the end of the game when Chris had already fouled out and one of our guys got fouled and sent to the line, Austin stopped at the 3 point line and called the rest of the Hoyas on the court to him and huddled up and made sure that they kept their heads on and finished the game (at least that's what it looked like he was doing). With all the progression that Austin has made both physically and in his game, he has also really seemed to step up as a leader -- more of a quiet, set-the-example type but when something's needed to be said, it's always him. Love it.

He leads most of all by his consistency.

I forget if it was during the Duke telecast, but a commentator said he had discussed Austin's progress with III, and III simply said, "he decided basketball is important to him." That was it. Wow.

With regard to Monroe....he dropped an f-bomb Wayns just after scoring the 100th point. That said, we need a little bit of fire on this team and am glad he didn't just pull up and dribble the clock out. It's fine to dribble out the clock if the other team if the other team lets up on the press. If the other team is full-court-pressing, fouling, and rushing down court to take quick three pointers with a minute left, why would you let up on them?

Heck, Nova even fouled with .2 seconds remaining. Who does that? IF they keep fighting, hammer 'em!

Austin Freeman is to the guard position (or the swing position, I guess) what Jeff Green was to the forward spot. I agree with those who say that they are supremely confident when Austin has the ball, like you know something good is going to happen, and I think the same was true of Jeff during his junior year. They both play with the same sort of demeanor too. Freeman has been so efficient this year it's unbelievable. And as mentioned, his consistency is the biggest thing. Even Jeff used to have some real quiet nights now and again, but Austin really hasn't this year, at least not in Big East games.
If the season ended today he probably wouldn't be first-team all conference, which seems crazy to me considering how outstanding he has been, consistently, in 2010. But he's definitely announcing himself to the world and if the team finishes strong, who knows. Have to think he's second team at worst.

A lot of his consistency this year relates back to his body type, which we all beat up on him about last year. Maybe he could have gained the weight and strength that he is using so effectively this year without loosing a step most of last year, but the fact remains that he needed to be bigger to BEAST in this league and he did. Now he has a linebacker physique in a league where "pounding" is a big part of it. At one point yesterday he drove the right side, got bumped on the way in and the way up and converted anyway, giving him a chance to flex a bit and swagger - scary! For all the smack thrown at him last season, nobody viewed him as a work in progress. That work is paying off day by day right now in the BEast.
(and no, I am not saying he did this all purposefully or the 'best possible way' and I know even coach has acknowledged that he wasn't committed enough last year to the physical requirements of league play, all I am saying it however he got there he did get there)

Just like the Duke game, this is the second time I've seen that a team continues to play hard until the whistle even if they're down by 15+ instead of letting the clock run out (somthing to do with the RPI, etc...) I like how JT3 didn't appreciate how the team stop playing the final minutes of the Duke game. The lesson was learned.

I don't know about 10-game stretch, but it's the first time since Mike Sweetney that a player has gone for 20 four games in a row: Villanova Facts

As silly as some people thoguht the 11 member big east first team was the first couple of years, I think it was necessary. Too many good players and too many teams to just do a 5 person team.

Awesome Freeman also smiles a lot when he's on the court.
This is a very, very important fact and should not be overlooked.

Good call-outs, blueandgray & stafford72.
I imagine that Reggie had at least such a stretch in 87, given that he averaged 23+ points, 8+ rebounds, 2+ assists and 2+ steals per game that season.
