Loved the turn-around jumper!
He looked like a foot taller than the rest of the players in most of those highlights.

Was spotted at the game behind the Georgetown bench along with DeMatha teammates Jerian (ND commit) and Jerami Grant (2012).
Second game (UConn) I've spotted him at this season.

Yes, Mikael & the Grants were at the game last night, along w/ DeMatha Head Coach Mike Jones, and about 3 other DeMatha players. Unfortunately, Quinn Cook was NOT one of those players in attendance at Verizon last night. I'd rather have Cook than Hopkins, myself. He has an edge to him, and Hopkins seems disinterested at times while playing in games. If things aren't going well for him, Mikael tends to pout a bit. Cook just comes back PO'd. That said, they are both VERY nice young men. I've met them at a couple games.

Hopkins is exactly the type of player that I NEVER want in a Hoya uniform. Soft, timid, waits for things to happen, and I've got no time for guys like this. So of course he's the most "diehard" fan of the Hoyas from DeMatha. Figures.
Cook is decent--but I prefer Johnson from NJ--but out of DeMatha guys-I agree with Oh My!

I'd take Hopkins and redshirt him.

I've seen him play multiple times, and I actually agree with your assessment for the most part. Kid still has one more year at DM to bring it all together, but of all the DM kids, I'd rather have Cook, Jerami Grant and James Robinson than Hopkins.

Sorry if my evaluation is too harsh--but really--I saw a guy who just watched/waited for ball to fall into his lap instead of going to get it, and just didn't want any part of anything physical. How that translates to being a Big East player? I don't see it-but then again I see too many Hoyas who like to wait for things to happen--so maybe he's a perfect fit for the "Vision" of what this program wants. I know for sure--I don't ever want to see another player who watches/waits for things to happen.
The aggressor is going to be the winner in every sport. You get beat here and there but you dont' win championships by out-thinking or waiting for your opponent to screw up--you take game to them and Hopkins isn't that type of player.

We seem to be a lightning rod for highly skilled but somewhat passive big men. The main issue is then are Hopkins' physical potential and skills good enough that he could be a very good contributor if he did up his aggression? If they are then he's worth taking because you have to trust the coaching staff to some extent in terms of improving him when he gets to the hill (just as a reminder, there's a center playing for us right now who had serious passiveness issues his frosh year [though obviously Hopkins probably doesn't have his innate skill]).

Hopkins could be a damn good player if he just wanted it more.
A damn good player.

Watched DeMatha stomp O'Connell tonight, good to see Austin and Big Greg in attendance.
Hopkins had a solid game, blocked a few shots, grabbed a lot of rebounds, got a few easy buckets in the paint, but nothing spectacular. Is a solid 6'8" right now, and will no doubt grow a little before he gets to college, so not quite sure if he's a 4 or 5 just yet but would need to add about 15-20 pounds on his frame either way. I've seen people compare his on-court demeanor to Greg's but is nowhere near as skilled, so while Greg can get away with it, Hopkins doesn't have that luxury. Not sold on him whatsoever, but he has one more year.
Kendall Marshall was the best player on the floor. Was his usual cool, calm and collected self, dished out a ton of assists, hit a few 3's and always made the right play. If you like your point guards in the John Wall mold, he's not your guy. But if you want a guy with rare passing ability, floor leadership and basketball IQ, he's your guy.
Quinn Cook has all the talent in the world, but hasn't put it together yet. Hit back-to-back 3's in the second quarter that put DeMatha up for good and had a couple of dazzling finishes at the rim, but often showed his frustration with his teammates and made some real awful decisions in transition and in half-court sets. If your a fan of CW, then you'd like him. If not, then you probbably wouldn't, and he's not as quick or strong as CW. At this point, I wouldn't be upset if we didn't get him if it meant getting someone like Tyrone Johnson.

Is redshirting really an option at Georgetown, considering the $s involved?
