I'm not sure what made me think of this today, but for some reason I was thinking about the summer before Patrick Ewing Jr. started playing at Georgetown.
I remember there was a big discussion about whether he should wear #33 or not. And I remember taking the position that he should be able to have it if he wanted it (i.e. - the number shouldn't be de facto retired), but that he should have to earn it, kind of like you have to earn the right to wear #1 if you are a receiver at Michigan.
Then I remembered how Patrick Ewing Jr. played for Georgetown...Every. Single. Game.
Man, did that make me feel stupid.
Anyone else feel like sharing?

Early in the '06-'07 season. Hoyas playing poorly during an early season home game (maybe the home L to Oregon?). After some sequence which, in my eyes, showed that we were sorely missing the '06 guys and weren't going anywhere, I turned to my roommate and said "I hate this team." Oops.

After JTIII's first game as head coach against Temple I said that Jeff Green was not going to be the next "Michael Sweetney" and would never have the same star power. I felt pretty silly later that season when he won BE Rookie of the Year and 2 years later when he carried us to the Final Four.

I remember sitting at the Big East Tournament during what I believe was Charles Smith's sophomore year. A horrible sequence of plays in which Smitty turned the ball over, got beat on defense, fouled his man, etc. got me so worked up I screamed at the alum next to me that he (Charles Smith) was the "biggest waste of a scholarship" ever under JT Jr.
I've never been a good judge of talent .... except in picking my wife.

When I turned to my father during halftime of the Kentucky semifinal game and said, "I can't believe the season is over."
My father quick to look on the bright side in front of his 11 year old said, "Don't worry, Patrick is only a junior."
Boy were we in for a surprise.

Drew Hall says hi. One that I'll never get back is my swearing up and down that the 2001-2002 squad would hit the Elite 8.

This is just for Georgetown Basketball, right? 'Cause otherwise I might need to go all Chunk from Goonies on you.
Let's just say that when Pops resigned and Esherick came on board, there were a lot of people who were really happy about that. I wasn't one of those that wore a moustache, but...
I thought Jessie Sapp was going to take Jon Wallace's job. And then I thought Chris Wright might. Come to think of it, I thought Drew Hall was going to be an improvement on Braswell.
I was excited about Harvey Thomas. And Trez Kilpatrick.

After JTIII's first game with Temple: Me: "I cannot believe our team is actually this bad." Roommate: "Yeah, this is kind of disappointing." Me: "I mean we start a freakin' WALK-ON..." ...(Cue me Spring 2007 about 31.2 seconds to go vs UNC)... Me: "THREEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!"

I spent all of halftime of the Davidson game pacing around the concourse at the RBC arena trying to think of what to tell my professors to explain that I was missing class to go to Detroit to watch us in the Sweet 16.

I don't think I'm ever going to get over that loss. Oh as for my memory, I was convinced that the Hoyas needed Scottie Reynolds after he got out of his Oklahoma commitment. I think my quote on this board was that the Hoyas had a Final Four Frontcourt and an NIT backcourt. I was in Winston-Salem, East Rutherford, and Atlanta to check out that NIT back court firsthand

As painful as it as to remember, I definitely doubted Jonathan Wallace during the first part of his freshman year. While I would comment on his poise and shooting, I just didn't think he had the speed to play in the college game at a high level. I would spout off to my friends that while JTIII could clearly coach, he would need to prove he could recruit better athletes before we could begin a resurgence. So glad Jon proved me an idiot.

Walking out of the Cap Center after the 1982 Virginia game and telling my friends that I thought we could be a Final Four team that year. Then we lost to American.

We've gone all this way without someone mentioning the first time they saw Anthony Perry.
Well, I just mentioned it. You can imagine what was said about what AP would do at Georgetown.

I spent the entire first half of the game at Nova thinking about how nice it was going to be to have a real PG when Chris Wright got on campus. Then Jessie hit the half court shot.
