I don't get the criticism of chris today. he only had 2 TOs. He lead us in scoring. he had some great drives to the basket today.

Watching the Hoyas today was flat out painful. The Hoyas did not run the Prince-Town offense well and wasted their superior talent by passing the ball aimlessly around the perimeter. Monroe is still passive. He dished an assist to Wright one play when the big fella was 4 feet from the cylinder. Talent wise Georgetown should have won that game by 20 points. Jon Wallace & Jeff Green were basketball freaks that ran the Prince-Town offense incredibly well. This group of Hoyas would be better served playing Thompson II syle of ball where our superior players would get more shots and more chances to use their athletic ability. It is like watching a fight where one guy (G'Town) fights with a hand tied behind it's back. It's not a chemistry issue in terms of personalities clashing it is more like these players clashing with the system. They do not resemble the Wallace-led teams in any way and never look like a Princeton offense. The "style" the Hoyas played today was actually BRASWELLIAN right down to Wright's off balance 25 footer at the end of the game. Just painful to watch.

Gotta go with Beantown on the game today.
One lingering impression from watching today's game on TV was much standing around the 3-pt line and not much hard cutting to the basket.

MANY TIMES HE WENT INTO TOO MUCH TRAFFIC AND PLAY STALLED not just turnovers anybody else see that or was it just me?? didnt look like a steady point he scored alot iknow maybe just me Chris is a drive and kick point guard. He drives then dishes out. Today he drove when the offense stalled, which was a lot. I don't think the offense ever stalled because he drove, outside of one or two forced drives I thought he did a good job in that department. Thats what we need him and Austin to keep doing, create for themselves which lead to opportunities to others.

One problem, I think, is that we do not have a true center. Greg is by most accounts a PF who was accustomed to playing a point forward position in HS with incredible face-up and see-the-floor skills. He is never going to be a Roy Hibbert style player at the 5 in our offense due to physical differences more than anything, but I had hoped we would land a Roy or equivalent so that we could push Greg to the 4 and not have to worry about adjusting the rest of our lineup card (i.e. Hollis to the 4).
The generalized problem, however, is that the team right now lacks diversity of approach. In the past, we could go small or go big depending on matchups. Even the 2004-2005 team could give you that look with Wallace, Cook, Owens, Bowman, and Green on the floor or Wallace, Cook, Bowman, Green, and Hibbert. Our strong lineups seem to be a choice between small and smaller. Choose between Wright, Clark, Freeman, Vaughn, and Monroe and Wright, Freeman, Thompson, Vaughn/Sims, and Monroe. In many ways, we can't stretch the other team's preparation right now because of it, and there isn't much distinguishing what you get from one lineup rather than the other.
My $.02.

Agree with those that say the one thing that did change is that we won this game. This would have been an 8-10 point loss last year, considering we were down 6 with a few minutes to go.
There are plenty of things not to be happy about, which for me are: - 23 minutes EACH for Vaughn and Hollis, resulting in 0 points. - Henry getting 10 mins, 0 points, and personally giving up 8 points. - Only 5 players scoring - Giving up 12 offensive rebounds - Turnovers (18?)
BUT WE WERE ABLE TO GRIND OUT A WIN. November games are all about learning, and this game provided a huge learning experience, while also earning the W.

The negativity is somewhat understandable if you want to dwell on comparisons to the end of last year. But the 'scrap the offense' posts already? After the 2nd game? Against a pretty good defensive team? And that team has a good coach who coaches against the Princeton offense every year? Lame.

Hollis scored 2 pts and had 4 rbds and 3 asts, i liked what he did today. I liked what i saw from julian his shots didn't fall but he had some nice moves.

I actually liked what I saw from JV today. Rebounded and defended. He looked more comfortable in the post / top of the key. Plus, he had a couple of sweet moves, including one post-up, then face up dribble drive to the rack but missed the layup. He has the skills, now he just needs to finish. Bring on the cupcakes! (now, JV, about those 3s...)

Fran Dunphy probably knows more about how to defend the Princeton offense than anyone on the planet and Temple is a big physical team. The Hoyas last year lost to teams like St. Johns and Seton Hall - giving games away and collapsing down the stretch in just epic fashion. All last year Greg Monroe never once hit a game winning shot - did he? - today he did. Today was progresss in that they won a close game and came from behind to do it. I am not sure they ever came from behind this way last year -did they?
I mean it was just ugly out there. I am not sure what everyone was doing on those set pieces in the last few minutes, I have watched it on the DVR a few times, it did look like the days of Esherik. So I'm not sayin' it can't improve. But c'mon, Hoyas are 2-0.
But this is a good win, just have to build on it.

I'm interested to see if JV can fill the Ewing-role that we all feel has sort of been missing. Granted, he's not coming off the bench, but if he can get down there and muck it up, back Greg up on the boards, and grab 8 or so garbage points, it could be just what we need. He's definitely got the body for it and he has to know that he's option #3 at best when he's out there and usually #5. Rumble, young man, Rumble.
As for the 3s, perhaps this summer he added a bit of range that we'll see come out in the next few weeks. I mean, he's not taking that shot unless he had some thought he could make it.

By my count, the Hoyas only won two close games last year. They never trailed at crunch time in either of them.
In the OT win against Memphis, the Hoyas were either tied or leading from the 3 min mark until the end of the game.
In the win against Nova, the Hoyas were winning the entire second half.

And I didn't mean to say I didn't like or understand the other contributions Vaughn and Hollis made, but we can't give 46 minutes out and only get 2 points in return. It worked out today, but I wouldn't want to take my chances with that stat again.

I totally agree its only november but the two most important players on this team CW and GM still showed the same old flaws in there game. GM consistently get the ball 20 feet away, I dont want him taking any 3's!!!! Demand the ball in the post or face up foul line extended and create dammit. As for CW run the damn offense, he doesnt always have to be an mach 3.
I dont want to see vaughn shooting 3's either...
Lastly if were hanging the fate of this years team on Sims were not going anywhere. I didnt like his minutes at all, the game still seem slike its going to fast for him..
Its early we are going to be a good team, hell were undefeated.. Just my 2 cents..

Memphis-Kansas is 20-26 at the half, offense explosions abound!
