Anyone else tune in? Thoughts?
Personally, I love Ian McKellan. He's brilliant in everything, from Othello, to a Nazi (Apt Pupil), to Magneto.

Yeah, what did you think, strummer? Now that I've realized FlashForward and V suck, I'm hoping this is good.

V doesn't suck. It's just not as good as you want it to be (or as it could be).
To my mind, there is a difference there.
I caught most of The Prisoner & both Ian McKellan and Jim Caviezel are very good actors. Their scenes together were very good.
Having said that, the reason I caught "most" of it and not all of it, was that it really doesn't move very well at all. I don't mean to say "it's not an action series." The Prisoner is not supposed to be an action series. But they just try to inundate you with so many things that are supposed to be important and worth your attention, in a "Lost" sense, I find it jerky and too overt. It didn't work for me. Maybe it's because they're trying to move too quickly to get everything in in six episodes, I'm not sure.
Speaking of Lost, though, the flashbacks in The Prisoner to New York City were very good segments of the show. That was a slow-developing very well played scene (if a touch predictable).
Also, there is was way too much visual disorientation going on. I'm sure it was intentional, but it really bugged me.

Before the Prisoner, it's worth noting that Flash Forward came as close to jumping the shark last week as any show I've seen in a while. As soon as Charlie Pace said "Let's resolve our Earth shattering dispute by playing Texas Hold'em," I almost turned off the TV. I'll stay with the show and hope it rebounds, but that was just an absurd scene.
Prisoner was good, I thought. There's definitely suspense built in, and it's very mysterious. It really has the Lost "what the hell is going on?" vibe, which is good. I'm a little bit worried about Jim Caveziel's character though. As an actor, he's fine, but the character...I'm not sure how many more times I can watch him scream, run into the desert, look unsure of himself, and express confusion about his current situation. I just kept wishing he would calm down for a few minutes and stop running around all day having flashbacks and looking sweaty.
That being said, Sir Ian is phenomenal. There's definitely a lot to work with. There are already one or two "mysteries" out there that I don't think they'll resolve any time soon (or at least they shouldn't), so I can see coming back looking for the resolution of some long-term questions. As long as Caveziel doesn't stress me out so much I can't take it, I think it could be good.
Two episodes last night, two tonight, and two tomorrow: they're definitely pushing a fast start. Not sure how that'll play out, but I guess we'll see.
EDIT: Boz, you're right about the NY scenes. I enjoyed those just because they slowed down for a few minutes. The show certainly can be challenging on the eyes. I'm not sure if they need so many of the gimmicks to convey the confusion and mysteriousness of what's going on.

Did I miss something? I thought is was just a six-episode miniseries.
Are they planning on doing more than that?
(I don't mean in the "if it's successful, we'll do more" sense. Are they already planning on making this a full-run series?)

Well some of what I said still stands. I guess the long-term stuff doesn't make as much sense. That's somewhat disappointing. Maybe that's why it feels maybe more rushed and intense than it could be. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prisoner_(2009_miniseries)

Im just about to quit on flashfoward, the amount if times they insult our intelligence with 10-15 repeat flashbacks is wearing on me. I think ill give V one or two more goes....

I'm pretty convinced now that even without the crappy and nonsensical plot, I would have turned on FlashForward anyway because Joseph Fiennes is the worst actor in the world.
I pretty much tuned into V for the same reason I now watch Castle: it has Firefly alumni in it. But I feel they rushed the reveal (even if we knew it was coming, it could have created some drama), and the plot is stupid and pointless (we didn't need an entire episode of lady FBI agent and priest deciding to trust each other; that should have been the obvious move when they were both freaking targeted by the Visitors). Also, lady FBI's son is horrible, and his plot annoys me.
I guess I'll give the Prisoner a chance. I'm still Editeded Kings was canceled.

I quit on Flash Forward after Episode 1 - the thing that really gets me about it is the cringeworthy dialogue. It's like they learned how to write a script by watching Grey's Anatomy.

The thing that got me off Flash Forward and V (though i never even watched a full episode of either) was that they both seemed like "oh you got killed on Lost? well here are two other shows you can be in!" I keep missing the prisoner but i am hoping it is onDemand. But kind of bummed that Mad Men is already done for the year and watching something in that time slot will remind me of that (not to mention it is on during Curb which i cant miss- though i could watch on demand) Also the Ad on this page was for something called "The Prisoner of IT"- man google adSense has to stretch pretty far sometimes

It's AMC. Even if it's not available onDemand, it'll be re-run ad infinitum over the next month.
I won't give anything away for those who are waiting to watch it, but my opinion still stands after the second night. Great lead acting, visually nauseating.
