www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/polls/top25we stay put at 24 in Gary parrish's top 26 Only movement was minnesota dropping from 16 to 23 because of roster upheaval then everyone from 17-23 moving up one. Jeff Goodman's updated top 25 msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/10377792/Top-25-after-Week-1 stay at 19. major mover is UNC dropping down after he realized they were overrated Cal also takes a tumble. Purdue and ohio st move up. I expect us to move up a spot in the AP and Coaches poll when they're released since they both had Miss. st ranked ahead of us. So i expect us to be the 19/20 Hoyas instead of the 20/21 hoyas.

sports.espn.go.com/ncb/rankings?seasonYear=2010&weekNumber=2&seasonType=2The site hasn't updated teams records but the rankings are new. yup as i suspected up to 19 in the AP and 20 in the ESPN poll. for some reason in the coaches poll Uconn moved ahead of washington. Ohio st. leap frogged michigan and oklahoma. Maryland still failed to break into the coaches poll and in fact lost a lot of votes. in the AP We actually got leap frogged by Dayton and jumped ahead of louisville( they haven't played yet). Ohio st. moed up from 16th to a tie for 15th clemson leap frogged illinois. maryland entered into the ranking at 25th.

Here's the AP poll analysis pollspeak.com/pollstalker/pollstalker.php?r=T&s=10&p=20&w=2&t1=121&t2=0&v=517 one thing i found interesting was this: pollspeak.com/pollstalker/pollstalker.php?r=T&s=10&p=20&w=2&t1=121&t2=51&v=517every voter who doesn't rank Georgetown has Maryland ranked. Voters who moved us up in their polls: Elton alexnader (+1) Matt McCoy (+1) Jack Bogaczyk (+3) Ed Graney (+1) Dave Borges (+1) John Feinstein (+9) clearly that gtsy road win made quite the impression Steve DeShazo (+1) Gary Laney (+5) Joe Juliano (+1) Joshua Parrott (+3) Jason Groves (+7) Jason Franchuk (+1) Kevin Brockway (+6) Mark Berman(+1) Pat Ridgell (+1) Keith Sargeant (+3) Cormac Gordon (+2) Dan Wolken (+1) Dick Vitale (+1) Paul Klee (+2) Pete Gilbert (+1) Mark McCarter (+1) Voters who moved us down in their polls: John Bohnenkamp (-1) John Werner(-1) Al Balderas (-1) Bill Cole (-8) not terrible since he had us overrated at 11 before but still Terry Hutchens (-2) Bob Holt (-8) dropped out of his top 25?

Yea...but still. If you do your thorough preseason analysis, as would be expected of an AP voter, how do you determine that it's the 11th best team in the country, see that they won easily on the road with their star player having a very strong game, and then decide that they must be no better than 19th in the country? Stuff like this makes polling totally asinine, if fun to follow. I would love for someone with more energy than me to write to Mr. Cole asking for his reasoning behind this particular decision.

I agree. I always like when just one or two voters leave a team who is well in the top 25 out of the the top 25 in the pre season, like they just forgot the team existed. I doubt there will be much movement until after next week when some of the tournaments happen. This was actually more movement than i expected

meh they have to prove it to me first. They weren't legit last year despite makign the tournament. Until they prove otherwise to me they're overrated. If they make some noise in maui then we'll talk.
