Al Gore is the chairman of the media company for which the two journalists work. Ahh. Thank you. I really couldn't figure that out. I forgot that he was responsible for Current TV. It seemed pretty silly otherwise, but that makes sense.

Al Gore is the chairman of the media company for which the two journalists work. Ok, so why were Shangri-La and Rogers & Cowan involved?

OK, this has been on my mind ofr a few days, but I thought it might be too snarky to ask. But seeing as how Willie Geist made fun of the same thing this morning, hopefully this question will not lead to partisan rancor. So, can I ask....... ....what the hell was Al Gore doing there? Other than maybe to remind people "Hey, I'm Al Gore." ________________________________ And seriously, to the Democrats/liberals on the board, be honest. When you heard Bill Clinton say that the two ladies "were very nice on the plane ride home," can you honestly say you weren't thinking the same thing easyed was thinking? ;D Easyed said nothing about Bill and the two women and far be it for me to think any such thing.

I have not researched the latter, but, as to Shangri-La, one of its executives kindly provided access to a private jet so that the private humanitarian mission could be carried out by former President Clinton and his staff.

Amusing reading, and there's no doubt some truth to the fact that this was amateur hour on the part of the two journalists. On the other hand, the Daily Mail isn't exactly the paragon of journalistic standards (and not just because of things like its attempted psychoanalyzing of one of the women by means of an anonymous "long-time Democratic Party insider" and a high school English teacher). For instance: Laura, who is fiercely ambitious, has spent her life in the shadow of her more successful older sister, Lisa Ling. Both were raised by Doug Ling, a 72-year-old Chinese immigrant, in the middle-class, mostly white, mid-Californian city of Sacramento.Sacramento has been described as California's most racially diverse city, one where whites are a plurality. (I'm also not entirely sure what "mid-Californian" means - Sacramento is to the north of the Bay Area, which is considered firmly NorCal, and it is far to the west of where the state's east/west 'midpoint' would be).
