How about a list of targets and those who have offers? Anyone want to take a stab?

There is a list of potential recruits in the 2011 table in the first thread on the forum.

Rivals released updated post-summer rankings for 2011 class today, and for the first time expanded the list to 150 from 100. As usual, rankings don't mean much, and these guys haven't even started their junior years yet, so it's way early. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?SID=910&Year=2011&ra_key=2288Here are some names that jump out to me, though this isn't necessarily a comprehensive list of players of interest: #4 Rakeem Christmas #5 LeBryan Nash #6 James McAdoo #11 Adonis Thomas #16 Branden Dawson #20 Quinn Cook #29 Michael Gbinije #30 Julian Royal #32 Mikael Hopkins #70 Derrick Wilson #78 CJ Barksdale #80 Naadir Tharpe #83 Grandy Glaze #108 Greg Lewis #113 John Manning #139 Deng Leek Some notables who didn't make it: Tyrone Johnson, T. Jordan Omogbehim, Jordan Goodman, Jacob Lawson, Matt Gorski, Chris Martin

Isn't Tyrone Johnson supposed to be a stud? Did he not make it because of his interest in football?

Yea I'd say it's a bit of a surprise. I don't think it's because of his status as a football prospect, because in years past guys like Terelle Pryor who were top prospects in both sports were ranked by Rivals in both football and basketball. From everything I've read Johnson seems to be a legitimate high major prospect in both sports, so you'd think he'd be in the top 50.
That said, some Georgetown fans have probably overhyped him because he's interested in us, calling him "Young Iverson" and things like that. My impression is that he'd be more of a Jason Clark/Jessie Sapp type, solid-good big east guard, not an Allen Iverson game changer--if he decides to play basketball that is. Still you'd think that type of player would make the Top 150, but apparently that's not a unanimous decision.

MAybe it has to do with these scouting services really only rank the kids who play all the AAU events.....plus rivals and all rankings services will be suspect with someone of the ridiculous things they do. Rivals had BJ mullens #1 last year...... come on!!! From what I heard Johnson only played in one event , i think it was the one in WV. And he had like a 41 pt game. The film I've seen if that guy isnt top 150 then the class of 2011 is all world.

Now rivals has Tyrone Johnson as the 46th ranked player over all. So they must have made a mistake. Guess he was NOT over-hyped. And Tyrone is quoted as saying JT2 compared him to AI directly. So I will take the "over-hyped" player all they way to Gtown.

Afterall, both AI and TJ were/are TWO sport stars in HS. AI was all-state, or maybe even POY in VA in both football and hoops. I think he was quite a baseball player as well. Regardless of the comparison issue, Tyrone sounds like someone that GU is strongly after and he could be a great addition!

As I said, everything we had seen/read about Johnson would make you think he was Top 150 or even higher, so it was a surprise to not see him in the Top 150. Now that has been rectified. And if he comes to Georgetown I'll be first on his bandwagon (we haven't had a Jersey kids since I've been following the team). But to me calling him "Young AI" just isn't fair. I know it's largely because both were 2 sport stars, but Iverson was a once per generation type athlete. Johnson, though good, isn't on that level, but some people just talk about him as the next AI and leave it at that. That, to me, is too much hype.

Well John Thompson is the man who said Johnson reminded him of Iverson--I'll take his word--afterall last time I checked he coached Iverson. Nobody said he's exactly like him--but some of you guys don't know anything about Iverson--his recruitment came out of LF--nobody had heard of him until his Summer between Soph/JR seasons--when he destroyed everyone on AAU circuit and led his team to title over Jerry Stackhouse/Jeff McGinnis team. Then they took notice. Does this sound familiar? Iverson is a once in a lifetime athlete--but I'm not about to question John Thompson's ability to evaluate talent and if he made a comparison and said there were similarities--I'm not going to blow it off as a "recruiting ploy".
Georgetown has thought highly of Johnson for a while now--he was invited to watch them play Louisville for Big East regular season title in '08 season--so it's obvious the staff views him as an important prospect.

You might as well compare someone to Michael Jordan, Magic, or Kareem. It is a ridiculous comparison no matter how good a prospect might be. Now if Big John said he reminded him a little of someone because he was a two sport star, or maybe some other aspect of his personality or whatever.... maybe. But to assume that Pops was actually comparing athletic ability or quickness -- that would be nuts. None of the above is to denigrate the kid as a prospect. He may well be an important prospect. But he isn't going to be AI2

Only a fool or somebody trying to be a wise-ass and start something would think JT2 or anyone else is saying that Johnson is the second coming of AI.
He said he reminded him of AI--and that is point. The kid is a major recruit for Georgetown and if you want to get hung up on rankings and bullcrap--go ahead.

just like the fact he is strongly considering hoyas. any comparison to any player is merely meant as a compliment to the young man. and if tj is a hoya fan than that might be the ultimate compliment.

part of this is you guys are comparing him to jr Iverson...he is going into his jr year of high school this year....there is film of TJ available he is very quick has a deadly though very standstill jumper, but you can see his tremendous burst in his B-ball hilites and his f-ball hi-lites......he is very very quick and no one stays in front of him. He also seems like a long strider in his running stlye which i always thought translated well into a driving guard. but the kid has a legit J.
Also 46th i think has to be too low.
