Being a long-time friend of Hoyaphatty, I can disagree with him (and not feel bad about it at all). Having said that, I enjoyed reading his recap (as I do most posts on this board).
Having not seen any KL this year, I will just echo the sentiments of some of the other posters. Hollis CANNOT play the 4 for us (I could only see it happening in a rare instance such as against Nova with their guard heavy line-up, and only for a small fraction of the game at best).
Clark will get his minutes so people shouldn't worry about whether he is starting or coming off the bench for us. He will be a beast next year regardless. Hollis should start at the 3, with Nikita getting some minutes there as well (I hope he is working on his defense with the national team!). But I expect Clark to play more minutes that Hollis.
Freeman MUST move to the 2 if we are going to be successful this year. Of course I expect to see him playing some 3 (when we are playing CW, JC, and AF together). But I agree, Freeman has All-Big East Team potential if he stays focused.
Sims will be "fine" as daytonahoya said. I actually think he will be more than fine. I think it will be a fun ride to see him progress this year. Also, I haven't seen this mentioned in this discussion, but Monroe and Sims play very well together, they feed off each other's energy, and I expect them to be a very dynamic duo. Monroe will also take some pressure off Sims (or Vaughn) in the frontcourt as he will garner even more attention from opposing defenses this year.
This upcoming season should be VERY exciting (especially with the non-conference schedule JTIII has put together).

I'm with Daytona on Henry. We don't need him to be a top three offensive option. We need him to defend, rebound, and finish when he gets the opportunity.

Austin's mid-range game will be a key this year. As a senior in h.s., his mid-range game was considered one of the best in the nation. Last year he showed flashes of it, but not as many as in his freshman year. Next year, he has to use it time and time again so that the other teams know it's coming. The result will be tons of room down low for the dish to Sims & Co. and for an occasional fake and drive. He should focus on it during KL.

So, for those of you who have seen some KL games, who's your MVP and Most Improved so far? I know it's too soon, but...

I think I tried to mention that before about Sims and Monroe playing well but either forgot or didn't do it well. Thats another thing people forget when watching, on his team he is basically the top low-post threat. Monroe will take a ton of pressure off of him, and whenever they played together in games, they complimented each other so well. Clark plays really well with these two too. Pr-I have only seen one weekend so far, but my MVP would have to be between Chris, Clark or Freeman(all guards, not surprising since its Kenner). I think I would have to give it to Chris because his team in undefeated, and hes had to play a team with Jeff each time. He's just looked really really impressive. Most improved- I would say Clark. His tighter handle makes him a much more dangerous player. We will see if it holds up during the season.

While I think Henry will provide good rebounding and decent defense, I still think we need him to be able to create some scoring on his own. I did see a few moves that he did this (such as a shot over Beasley), but I also saw a few times on Sunday when Jeff was purposely feeding Henry and he wasn't able to do much with it.
We all know there will be games where Greg will get in foul trouble. Just like our last Final Four team, if we are to reach the same heights, I think we need two big men (maybe Julian if his improved play continues) who can create their own scoring opportunities. I am confident Henry will get there during his career at Gtown, but I hope it's this season.

But, for better or worse (and I'm inclined to low post play, so I'm not that pro-perimeter), we're much more of a perimeter based team than the FF team. That team created mostly out of the post -- whether Jeff or Roy -- and our perimeter players were finishers, not creators. This team is different. Chris and Jason and Austin are much better creators than Sapp and Wallace, for example.

According to a post on CAAZone.com, Princeton recruit Ian Hummer is playing for Clyde's in the Kenner League.
If this is true, any reports about how he's doing would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to PM me if this strays too off-topic.
Thanks!

I really like hummer's game. He really gets after the ball. Gets a bunch of rebounds. Has had several good blocks too that were impressive for his size. He finishes well in traffic against bigger opponents. He's a little slow in guarding some of the faster kenner league guards, but hey he's going to princeton so he should be fine.

You guys must be smoking something on Hummer. I mean I like the way he plays (or tries to play) but he has absolutely zero handle. He makes Nikita look like Pistol Pete.

Lic, I thought you knew that Greg and Austin were definitely going to be gone after Friday. There was always a good chance the other guys were going to shut it down around then too though maybe the locals will be around for the championhip games (unless they're injured). At least they all besides Vaughn got around four or five games of playing in.

Austin played today in the third game and actually looked sharp and calmer. Chrris's ankle didn't recover and Hollis was in a T-shirt with a slight limp.
