I had to go away for a few days. Did Julian finish KL early too?
This late-summer schedule is really taking the fun out of the league this year.

Julian played today- got some boards but looked as bad as he always does. Sorry, but he's someone who, unless he does a complete 180 this year, I'm not going to find the positives in. He can't hold onto the ball, can't hit midrange, or put the ball in on baby hooks. He reminds me a lot of Rhese Gibson.
Clark looked stellar today, as he has all summer. Jeff, Tyler, and Austin also played with Julian in the third game. I'd say that they were going at about 20% today, not trying, so it's hard to get a feel for any improvement with Austin. Austin had a pretty good game statwise- hit 4-5 from 2pt, 2-3 from 3pt, 4-4 from FT, pulled some boards. But he also probably turned the ball over about ten times. He was looking as he did last year, not aggressive, looking like he really had no desire to be there at all. It is summer league, and so it's hard to tell whether they were just not going hard b/c of that, or if it's part of a larger problem.

Basically what we're left with at this point:
Tombs: Julian, Jerelle, and Austin (though it's been rumored he's leaving town soon)
Clydes: Henry and Jason
DCX: Chris (sat out today)
We Are One: Hollis (ditto)
Then there are the 07 mercenaries: Green, Wallace, and Crawford.

I don't know I've only seen him in two games so far, but he looks much better to me. He moves a lot better than he did last year. He grabs rebounds and his moves look a lot better. His shot didn't fall today but the moves he was making for the most part weren't bad. I think his shot will fall other days. 3-6 from 2; 2-2 from the line, 8 rebounds, 8 points 2 blks isn't a terrible stat line. sure he was also 0-2 from 3 and had 3 turn overs, but i don't think he was as bad as you make him out to be. His outing was much more encouragin than henry's

I've only seen Julian once, but I'd have to agree with HoyaSinceBirth. Improvement physically and game wise were apparent. Lord knows I was shaking my head at the 0-2 threes though.

Julian has looked a lot quicker, played better positions for rebounds and has run the floor better. He also looks like he has worked on his post moves, turnaround jumper and hook. They still need a bit of work. As was pointed out to me the other night, the Princeton has only one center, that's Greg, and unfortunately for Julian, his minutes will be limited as a backup for breathers and foul trouble. Julian really looked a lot better on on D this summer.
I would like to see him get time at the four with Greg at the five, that didn't happen last year and probably won't happen this year. On the flip side Geg and Henry play well together and feed off each other. If we don't play Julian heavy minutes, our odds of appearing in Indy are slim. RIDE JULIAN TO INDY.

The thought it would happen last year, it didn't, they simply played Nikita for the minutes. That could happen again this year too. I just think Julian is too skilled to be only used to cover Greg's rest time and a fill-in for foul trouble.

Hell, if the season started tomorrow and we were using Kenner as our "tryouts" I'd think about starting him over Henry.

Yes, but you have to remember, even if you count Nikita as a member of the frontcourt,(which I don't) last year we had five guys to cover those two spots. It made sense to use Vaughn strictly as a sub for Monroe. This year we lose a guy that ate up a good chunk of the minutes playing the 4, and Nikitas minutes will go back mostly to the 3 if Henry or Julian are really ready. That really only leaves 3 guys to cover 2 spots, with Nikita being able slide down if need be. I don't see anyway that III is going to avoid playing Monroe and Vaughn together even if he wanted to. And I agree I would really love to see that because it means we could move Monroe to a more natural position of PF.

Freeman is going to have a huge year. 15 lbs lighter would be my guess and the one handed dunk over two guys on Sunday was something you didn't get last year.
Stay away from the burger madness and A Free is all big east this year.

Julian has looked the better of the two so far

Freeman is going to have a huge year. 15 lbs lighter would be my guess and the one handed dunk over two guys on Sunday was something you didn't get last year. Stay away from the burger madness and A Free is all big east this year. Freeman had an ill open court dunk Friday as well. Also turned on the motor and busted through about 8 surprised players in transition for a layup. Most of all this is a guy who sees the floor lucidly and has top notch spatial ability, he is a natural at seeing lanes and opportunities and understanding positioning. He actually has unusually good endurance and cardio development, should still be motoring at the end of games next year when everyone else on the court is fading. Looks like he's on rollerskates coasting up and down the floor. BTW I love Freeman at the point which they did most of the game. Wright needs to find the rythm of the game, he has the athletic ability but tends to expect things to work quickly rather than on the 6th or 7th or 8th pass, like he tried for 5 seconds to get the ball to Monroe when he was double teamed, just swing the ball to the other side and wait for the defense to balance out and Monroe will eventually get it in the course of things when the defense is not expecting it. The same rapid-fire mind also allows Wright to make quick plays, though, he had a nice touch pass in traffic and operates well in broken plays and think-quick emergency situations. I actually like Wright at 2 guard more than point, teams will have to follow him around and spread the defense since he can penetrate.

Bananas and peanut butter are my go-to breakfast. 5. It's about 75/25 I'll be at the KL games tomorrow, maybe 50/50 for Thursday.
