In her defense, Carolyn wasn't voluntarily using the word herself, she was merely repeating what she heard one of her supporters say in an analogy using that word that she like never would use on her own unless she was trying to convey verbatim what someone else said. Y'know?

I'm reminded of the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm in which Larry gets offended when someone uses the n word. He repeats the story to his manager who is about to get surgery. The doctor, played by Forest Whittaker, gets so upset with Larry retelling the story that he shaves his manager's head, though his surgery didn't require it. That episode was a funnier example of what happened in NY.
